R/Alphabe-Thursday

Original photo of McCormick-Deering tractor

R is for RUSTY.

It's no secret that I like rusty objects and this one was sitting out in a field, an ornament. How could anyone resist taking its photo?

Does anyone know what year this tractor was made?

  4. A little research leads me to believe that it's probably a McCormick-Deering 10-20, a model they made from the 1920's up until WW2. If so it has earned the right to look a little rusty.

  6. Now that is old. I'm guessing early 1900s. As you might imagine, I like your Photoshopping!

  8. That’s a picturesque tractor even though rusted! I ever seen how the tractor’s rim looks inside.

  9. I would guess at around 1920-1925, possibly a bit later. Is that vague enough for you?

  18. What a great tractor! Shame it was let go to rust and not kept nice. My nephew remodeled a tractor that was probably from around that same time period. Fun crank start and all!

  26. It's always a joy to find rusty things. I guess it is partly because rust takes its own path and isn't predictable. It is also something we don't see everyday.
