Sailing, Sailing.../ Sky Watch

Not a beautiful sky on Sunday -- a hazy grey. But the air temperature was scrumptious with a steady breeze to cool the warm sun, perfect for visiting Lake Ontario's shore to search for polished glass and smooth stones, to daydream and to watch sailboats.
And what a great day for a race, even though cumulous clouds were forming to the south and west. But you can't see the clouds because this photo is looking northerly from New York to...Canada, if you have eyes like an eagle and a vivid imagination. :-) Lake Ontario is BIG.

That grey of summer is very like ours. I take it as the sky's permission to doze off in the heat for a while! These shots are wonderful.

I'm back ... oh no, cried blog world ... he's back!

Wasn´t it Kris Kristoffsen who had a great romantic song called SAILING?
It's the perfect soundtrack for this post.

No wonder they are called the great lakes (I have Walked on Lake Superior)

I'm always amazed at the variety of sujects in the SWF posts. These sailboats add interest and focus to that big lake and sky. Nice images!

Even if the sky was gray, I just loved thje first picture..., almost better than if the sky had been 100%.

Nice weekend to you, from Anne in Norway.

Are you starting this one for new?

As for your questions:

- I use PHOTOBIE for placing the letters on the photos.
Google search for it and then download it because it's freeware.

Other freeware software that is good is COLORCASTFX, DCEnhancer and FOTOSKETCHER (the photo on my header was changed with this one).

Of course PICASA always helps.

And when I'm finshed reading the book, I'll be trying PHOTOSHOP CS3.

Big photos?
Well, for starters you must change some html codes from your blog.
Make the wrappers bigger.
Afterwards, when publishing the photo with blogger, see it's html code after it´s loaded.

Almost on the end you will see ... s400 ... change it to s800 ...

I am now taking a diminishing dose of steroids for my Rheumatoid Arthritis pain and it works. I believe the chemotherapy drug is spelled "Methotrexate" that is used to treat a lot of things from cancer to arthritis will be used next. I just relish in being pain free.

So I am not participating in Sky Watch Friday just because I might not be able to make it around to all.

I enjoyed seeing your blog post for Sky Watch Friday and I thought your photography was excellent.

I don't know if you like to read or not but if you do this place is amazing.

I just got my first shipment of used books from Strand's bookstore in New York City, yesterday. They have 18 miles of used books. Think about that. Anyway, they got here and I am totally happy with those I chose to read. I had to start out by just choosing a category, like photography, and go from there. I don't know how in the world they can keep track of so many books.

Look up Strand bookstore or copy and paste the URL here: http://www.strandbooks.com/app/www/p/home/

Hazy skies have a beauty all their own, especially when combined with boats and water! There is a lightly moody effect!

Lovely capture!

I like the way the color of the lake changes at it meets the horizon. I know this is a lake ('cause you said so) but it looks like our Bay.

Our family used to have a sailboat on Lake Ontario... I loved it when it was calm water, but at the first sign of high winds or rough water I wanted to go home! OK... I'm a total chicken when it comes to seamanship!
Great photos!
