Wild Apple Tree/ Ruby Tuesday

Please note: MY World is the post below.

We were out for a drive on Sunday taking advantage of the blue sky, wispy clouds and sun, when we turned down a dirt road to "see what we could see."

And what we found were these RED apples still clinging to a tree. The hard-to-reach apples must frustrate the local deer NOW, but later on when the fruit does fall the deer will be pleased to nibble on a frozen dinner.

That is such an interesting view - the fruit stays on the tree while all the leaves have departed. Must be a hearty fruit that bears as the cold Ontarian winter fast approaches!

Hi EG,
Found your blog through Ruby Tuesday and checked out all your photos. They are fantastic! Mine is a "simple life" blog, but hope you visit. Always enjoy new company.

Those look a lot like the crabapple trees we have down here -- at least from this distance. Except the fruit appears to be a bit larger. Possibly because you don't have as many pesky squirrels stripping the tree bare before the fruit has a chance to mature?

I know if I were a deer I'd be trying to figure out a way to shake those out of the tree for sure!

This has been such a wonderful year for apples. You can see trees chock full everywhere.

Gorgeous! Yes, the deer will love this.
I smiled when you said you took off down a dirt road to 'see what we could see' - my Hubs and I do that all the time. It's always an adventure and a hmmm... somewhere along the way - just like this scene you shared. :)

I can't believe the number of apples on that tree. What a winter treat those deer have in store.

We have crabapple trees here where the apples cling on the tree all through the winter and feed the birds in the hard times before spring as the apples shrink down to cherry sizr or smaller.

I sure like the extraordinary.
Like this wild apple tree of yours.
can the apples not be eaten of humans??
Th sour Norwegian winter apples are much sought for here.
They can be stored for long and contains no pesticides.
Maybe you should bring a bucket next time?

I didn't know that deer will eat apples. They come out of the woods at dusk to browse across the pond..

Worthy POTD. Will they stay if it snows, the red against the white would be even more spetacular.

Hey there - over from Authorblog (congrats!). LOVE this tree. One of the best things about fall are fresh apples - especially the ones dipped in caramel. But these are stunningly displayed in your shot - what a great RUBY post!

What an interesting find! The last apple tree I saw, the fruit was all over the ground and I thought, what a waste. At least the deer won't let those go to waste. :-)

Beautiful! I believe God leaves the fruit on the trees to feed the birds, even after the leaves are dead and gone!

Congrats on your Post of the Day award!

This stunted tree produces so many red apples!! Unbelievable. Nature gets ressources sometimes.
Great Ruby "hunt"!
