Sightseeing/ My World

Float plane taking off from Parry Sound Harbour from  Georgian Bay (Lake Huron)

Yesterday my husband and I were enjoying the beauty of Cottage Country north of Toronto.

Busy harbour at Parry Sound

It was a warm, slightly hazy day and many people were out boating, fishing, swimming...and sightseeing.

I was taking photos of boats when I head the roar of an airplane engine. I turned around just in time to see this Georgian Bay Airlines plane zip across the water...

take off...

gain altitude and fly above one of the 30,000 islands in Georgian Bay, as in the first photo of this series.

I am linking to My World.

One of my strongest memories of my childhood is being taken on the shoulders of my aunt, way out in the water at Shediac Bay, to see a float plane. It was aside from my fear of imminent drowning, a very exciting experience.

I have never flown in one of these planes. I'll bet it is piles of fun. Although these days I am developing some fear of heights. Maybe I will need to postpone a flight until my next life.

I've only seen two float planes in my life, they are very cool. Nice pic.

What handier mode of transportation could there possibly be when traveling over an area of 30,000 islands. Who knew there were soooo many?

I would love to take a ride on that float plane!

Breathtaking! – although if it doesn’t have 4 large jet engines I wouldn’t board it…..
Great photos well captured. Thanks for sharing.

Have a nice day, Boonie

It looks very busy! Not only boats but airplanes, too! Love your photo of the takeoff :D

We saw a lot of float planes while in Alaska, the best way to get around in a land where water is plentiful and roads aren't.

I would love to 'zip' in one of these, especially around the 30,000 islands. Imagine the view!

These brought back memories of the seaplane trip my son took me on for my birthday several years ago and it was fantastic! Terrific captures for the day! And, yes, I love all that beautiful blue! Have a great week!

What fun, and a beautiful place to see. I saw some float planes taking off and landing when I was in Vancouver last weekend.

Nice photo series. The float planes remind me of giant insects skimming the water and then flying away.

What pretty country--and what fun it would be to fly above and look down. Love your Macro Monday shot--so perfect--clear, sharp, colorful, and beautiful. Mickie ;)

30,000 islands in Georgian Bay? Japan consists of four big islands and almost 7,000 islands altogether. How different the scale of our countries!

I like the blue color in your photos, always. Nice capture of the taking off. Have a good week!

My daughter, her three children and I saw one in New Zealand and we decided to go with it. It was lovely! In Australia we did the same and flew to an island off the coast of North Queensland. We all enjoyed it very much.
