Nature Notes - End of July

End of July

This bluebird was sitting on utility wires over a dirt road just one county to the east of where I live, which was a  pleasant surprise as bluebirds have been  uncommon here in the recent past but seem to be increasing.  The light is golden as the bird was reflecting evening light as the sun was going down.

Moving clockwise: bumblebee in chicory (Chichorium intintybus), black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta), showy tick-trefoil (Desmodium canadense), long-leaved speedwell (Veronica longifolia). and Tickseed sunflower (Bidens aristosa).

Please visit Michelle at Rambling Woods for more NATURE NOTES.

Beautiful collage, and it will especially like the flower with bumblebee and a bird. Yours.

I'm thinking of your winter collages - what a contrast to this one. Love the showy tick-trefoil.

I'm loving the wildflowers but hate seeing them go because that means winter is getting closer and closer.

Lovely pictures. I am so impressed with your being able to name the plants and flowers. Yes, thwe morning or evening sun can make birds look much redder/orange than they actually are.

The evening light is perfect for such photography - as you have shown here.

A beautiful collage. How could it be the end of July already. Pretty soon the snows are coming back. Yikes! Head south now. But stop in Georgia!
