Mother Goose

Canada Goose sitting on her nest

Apparently the snow last week has not affected the goose breeding season. Out for a walk in Newmarket, I discovered this soon-to-be Momma.

On a tiny island in Fairy Lake, Newmarket

She apparently felt safe as I was quite a distance away and had to zoom in a LOT with my point-and-shoot to get the closer photo.

Father Goose

As you can see, soon-to-be dad is monitoring the situation.
I am connecting to Stewart M's Wild Bird Wednesday HERE

Great shots! Is that a bit of green I see in that last shot? We have a pair of geese nesting over by The Rez. I'm looking forward to some babies.

Oh yes, you can't get too close to a mama goose!

she is beautiful and Father is On Patrol.... ready to make those loud hissing noises if anyone comes close

Another sure sign that flowers and grass are coming...
I wonder if they are early, or the geese here are late...

funny all the birds we have in Florida, but no geese. I had to make a business trip to Chicago to meet my first gaggle...they wouldn't give up the sidewalk during a run...attacked me like banshees. Thought I was going to die :)

Dearest EG CameraGirl;
Oh, Mother Goose and father (soon-to-be) so lovely♡♡♡ I wish I could take pictures with zoom better as I sometimes see birds in the river from the road(^^;)

Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

A lovely couple!

I'm sure that Father Goose would have bravely dealt with the situation had you come too close. I have been chased by a goose before and it's kind of scary.

Lovely to see the geese nesting again. We were out the other day when a Daddy Goose was standing like a sentinel while his mate was feeding. Great photos!

I hope you get to take picture of those little ones later.

We have a pair of Canada geese that come to our pond every spring. They are such love birds. I love watching them gliding along side by side on the water. I have yet to see the little ones, though. Beautiful shot of mama goose.

A pair has come back to our pond. Last year had 7 babies--hopefully not so many this year.
Super good pictures. MB

Well, the early bird get the worm and the early breeding goose probably gets the tastiest new grass.
Good luck to her.
