Mitten Weather

 Ice and exposed water

Friday, my husband and I were out and about. The sun was out! There's ice and snow on the creek except where the water runs fast. After a few relatively mild days, the temperatures have dropped.

 A dusting of white

Snow squalls have left about an inch or two of snow, nothing worth shoveling...yet.

A closeup of snow on corn stubble

Cattle enjoying the outside and sunshine

Black barn, red roof...and snow

Winter has finally arrived!

The weather is so up and down. The winters certainly are not the old reliable ones we used to have.

Pretty snowy scenes! I am glad it was not too much snow, the cattle would have a hard time.. Great photos! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!

Your pictures look like paintings! Just beautiful. The snow dusting on the corn stubble field is beautiful.

But I worry about you having to take those mittens off to take pictures!
(When we were in Alaska looking at glaciers, I held my gloves in my teeth while I snapped pix, put them back on to warm up before I took another batch.)

Beautiful winter landscapes. I love the cattle. We also had a few cold days with snow before it got warmer and started to rain again.

Snow isn't very easy to photograph, yet you have captured the scenes beautifully. Happy New Year. Greetings Jo

Very pretty views. We still have no snow in the southern half of NB but the rest of NB has a lot. A bit of snow and then ice pellets and freezing rain for us tomorrow will not be pleasant as it would be nicer to have a good 10 cm. of snow on the ground to insulate it.

Mittens certainly do the trick over gloves when the frigid temps hit. Nice scenes here.

Very pretty scenes. I am afraid I would need more than just mittens.

Oh, yes, I do love your winter scenes and the snow! Great shots as always!! It's chill and wet and gray here in Portland, and I have to remind myself not to whine, after all it is winter in the northwest!!! Hope you have a great weekend! Stay warm and enjoy!!

So pretty! Glad you don't have to shovel yet. Cajun Country has been rainy and dismal for far too long. Wishing you all the best for a wonderful 2015!

Beautiful winter shots. It does look like mitten weather.

I love your pictures of winter settling in. I have a song that I sang to my children and now I sing to my grandchildren called Mitten Weather.
Thumbs in the thumbplace
fingers all together
this is the song
we sing in mitten weather
We sing the song as we put the mittens on. You've reminded me of it with your post. I hope your husband is doing well.

I dusting of snow is better than a dumping of snow, I reckon. Beautiful winter scenes.
