Snowy Owl

 Snowy atop a utility pole

There seem to be quite a few Snowy Owls in our area again this year and this one wanted a grand view where it could feel safe. For quite a while it sat fairly still, moving only it's head. Then it stood up....

Flying off to capture something tasty

and flew down into the plowed field below.

I am connecting to Stewart M's Wild Bird Wednesday HERE

We had a Snow Owl here in the Washington, D.C. area for a while. But it's believed he's moved on. No doubt he could find better snow elsewhere. :-)

These are fantastic, EG! I wish I could see an owl but haven't yet. I have seen 2 Redtailed Hawks flying around downtown today - probably looking for a pigeon.

I love seeing your owl photos. Probably because I've never seen an owl up close in the wild. That's somewhat strange since I live in the country!

Gorgeous owl, it has such a look of power on its face. The black and white feathers on it's chest look like a vest. I've only seem the white wings of an owl flying by at night from the car, your shots are amazing!
