V/Alphabe-Thursday

 Wooden carving, Palmerston

V is for VERTICAL

I believe the carving is of a train conductor.  His left hand is on his watch as if it's almost time for the train to leave the station.  (Doesn't he look cold?) He's standing close to an old locomotive on display in a town park.

 Country mailboxes

The "bird" is standing vertically waiting for the mail to arrive.

Vertical Toronto as seen from a city park

The poor statue in the first photo definitely looks like it's cold!

I wonder what the mail delivery people think about mailboxes like this one. :-)

Cool, I love the wood carving and the mailbox is cute.. Pretty view of the skyscraper.. Have a happy day!

That's a fun set of photos. My first reaction to #1 is that the guy was shivering from the cold. Mail boxes can be very creative - except in some subdivisions like ours which insist on uniformity. Toronto goes up and and around and up and rectangular. Whatever, Toronto is way up there!

that mail box is fun; hope it's still there after the winter and the snow plows!!

My first thought. He seems shrunken up with the cold!

That train conductor has been waiting a long time for the train to arrive! I think some kind soul should find him a coat.

Great shots! I especially love the "train conductor". That reminds me of my father who was one.....

He does for sure look cold - and I LOVE that bird!

The wood sculpture and the mailbox bird are great! The Toronto skyline towers are amazing. I don't know if I'd want to live or work way up there though.

The statue got my attention … he looks as if he has been standing there forever and yet he maintains his perfectly straight posture.

he looks cold and destitute! :)

LOVE the mailbox! so clever!

I like them all, but the mailboxes are really something out of the ordinary!

I think I prefer the Palmerston area to Toronto! My paternal grandparents had a home up in Palmerston, before I was born.

Oh, he does look SO cold!! Great mailboxes -- well, they're all great shots for the day as always and, as always, they're a perfect start for my day!! Hope you have a beautiful one!! Enjoy!!

Enjoyed the V for Vertical photos. Hard to believe that mailbox ... wonder if postal carrier actually leaves mail in the clip? ... I guess so, but what if it's raining? :-) Also enjoyed the snow geese (previous post). Nice work all around.

The conductor does indeed look cold - hope he is enjoying today's sun!

Wow! I love these buildings. And the tall bird mailbox, that is so fun!! The wooden man looks cold and miserable! He should have his own train car to warm up in.

Everyone's already been here before me with the freezing man comments! Love that building!

Great captures! I adore that cute man, and that mailbox is too cool, I'd have it myself out here in the country!

Vertical it is for sure.
Regarding the sunny day and the sun dress: it was a nice day and Ella did start out with a sweater on and we did a lot of walking so off came the sweater. That was the last nice day until today and last night was snow on the surrounding hills but today it is sunny again and the rest of the week is supposed to be spring warm.

The train conducter does look cold...love the country mailbox shot. And vertical Toronto does look interesting.

Cool series of photos. I really like the creativity of the mailboxes.

I like the conductor. Looks like he has weathered a lot. I believe one, the one with the box number or house number is a mail box and the other is the people's decoration so that the mail carrier and travelers will smile.

Love that fun mail box bird!! And, yes, the train conductor does look cold -- perhaps he's checking his watch for how much longer he'll have to wait before getting warm inside his train!
