Flowering Quince/ Today's Flowers

Quince (Chaenomeles speciosa) blossom

These lovely quince blossoms are on a a five-foot high hedge next to a neighbour's driveway.

Branch of quince blossoms

This is not the edible quince, though I have heard the fruit from this plant can be made into delicious jellies.

It's a lovely flower, such a vibrant red which is one of my favorite colors. I've heard of that kind of jelly but never tried it. Thanks for sharing and have a great Sunday!

I was just about to inquire about the jelly.

Now I know what they are called. I have seen these this spring and wondered. Beautiful shots.

Very pretty. We went to a restaurant once in Deland, Florida, which served edible flowers. I wonder if one of them was the edible quince.

Hope you have a great week!

Great pictures of flowering Quince with beautiful colours. I use Quince (Cydonia oblonga) for jelly.

I'll have to check if my neighbor's quince is blooming. She lets me make quince jelly from the fruit.

The quince is so beautiful and that's great that your neighbor has a tall hedge of it for you to enjoy.

Quince flowers are so striking and the fruits are pretty too though we never have enough to do anything with them. A 5' hedge - gorgeous!

Is this the same as japonica? It's a very similar colour.

I have a flowering quince, but it is not flowering yet. Those thorns are fierce though. I have made quince jelly from the edible kind - very delicious it is too.

The Quince are starting to bloom here too. I have made Quince jelly too. I once gave one of my daughter's boyfriend a Quince and told him it was an apple. I think he is still all puckered up. I thought it was funny. He didn't come back very often. Good!! BTW: excellent pic.
