American Lady/ Macro Monday

American lady (Vanessa virginiensis) butterfly

This lovely American lady has been coming to my butterfly bushes every day. Finally she stayed still long enough for me to capture with my lens.

Super shot, EG. She says your patience is rewarded. MB

Those butterflies do require patience, but this one was surely worth the wait.

Nice shot. My wife has left a huge weed growing in the back of our yard because it attracts birds and butterflies. I must keep my eye on it.

I've seen a few here too, and have been chasing them for they don't stay still very long.

Butterflys never hold still for me, perhaps it is our warm weather.

Didn't know there was a butterfly named American Beauty. Will have to look it up. Nice capture.

Haha... I can so relate. There are clusters of small butterflies flying around our neighbourhood, but they never stop long enough for me to take a clear photo. You got yourself a beauty, EG.

I have only seen one painted lady this summer! Take a look at my blog and see my 'sidekick.'

Lovely shot, so far the butterflies here will not sit still for even a second.

Oh, how pretty!

I planted a buddleia last autumn, and it bloomed quite well this summer, but I didn't see one single butterfly on it! Hoverflies and bees, and the odd beetle, but no butterflies. :(

Your 'American Lady' looks just like our 'Painted Lady'!
