Downy Woodpecker/ Camera Critters

Downy woodpecker eating shelled peanuts

Last Monday morning this male downy treated himself to peanuts in this feeder right outside my kitchen door.

And click HERE to see a photo of a hairy woodpecker eating peanuts at this same feeder in December.

To join in the fun, visit Misty Dawn at CAMERA CRITTERS.

I am going to get a feeder this weekend. I keep stalking my neighbor's, but it would be so much fun to have my own. Nice shot!

Great close up. I'd like to get my hands on lens like yours. I've already got the bird feeder and get mostly sparrows.

Oops! I've been forgetting all the memes I enjoy, especially this one. But you are doing yeoman's service for the likes of me. Terrific photo of this active bird.

That's a good shot of him eating his breakfast.
Which reminds me, I haven't had breakfast yet.

Great closeup! That is a remarkable capture, EG.

I wish I could snap something like that sometime. It would help if I had a bird feeder. haha

Happy Saturday ~

Very nice closeup! So what's the diff between a "downy woodpecker" and a "hairy woodpecker"?

The hairy one seemed to have longer claws.

Rainy season in Florida is usually the summertime when we often get afternoon showers. Which is nice 'cause it tends to cool things down.
