Wild Mink/Camera Critter

Wild  mink on the shore of Lake Ontario

Last Monday as I was watching bufflehead ducks dive for lunch, a mink (a member of the weasel family) walked by.

Mink wondering: What was that click sound I heard?

Added later: Many thanks to Gary who identified this mink.

I saw one at the ferry docks in downtown Toronto last summer - shocked me that's for sure. Nice portrait.

So cute! Based on this photo, I could say that connotations associated with the saying " what a weasel" are greatly exaggerated :-).

Fantastic, EG! I've never seen one of these in the wild. It's cute. I wonder why the name became a synonym for "jerk," like in "He's such a little weasel"?

Wonderful pictures this week. I giggled a little when I first saw the weasel. When I was in school, that was my nickname!!!

What a great find and a great photo. I dare say most people have never encountered a weasel in the wild. I'm one of them!

What a fantastic capture. I have only ever seen weasels as a blur rushing across a road.

How lucky! I can't imagine a weasel just wandering by. :-)

That first shot is great. I'm surprised at how calm and demur he looks.

Great capture! I did have an ermine show up at my camp but I was so astonished to see it run through the backyard...I forgot to pick up my camera!

Wow! I've never seen anyone post weasel photos before. Actually, I've never seen one in real life, either. Nice shots!

I think I have saw one mink in the wild in my life...but never the chance for a photo such as these! I bet you felt like you had hit gold...oh, have you seen the show the golden girls...and the one where they tried to raise minks? Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WVMGOWmgjU

I have had it on my blog before I think...but no matter how many times I watch it, I laugh.
