Birds of a Feather/Our World

 Eastern bluebird

Last Thursday I was excited to see this cute little guy sitting on power lines overhead. Although bluebirds seem to be fairly common in eastern Canada and the eastern U.S.,  this is the first one I've seen well enough to know for sure what it is.

House sparrow

On the other hand, this is a common bird that appears to be everywhere! And...

House finch

here's another commoner.

The bluebird makes me smile everytime. I love all of the birds.

I've never seen a bluebird in the wild. Sparrows are different story. My bird feeders helped them survive the winter.

I love bluebirds I look forward to seeing them but I am afraid it is snowing here so they would not be very happy. My tree swallows are back I love to see them also I am sure they do not like the snow either:) B

What beauties! I love the bluebirds, but they don't survive long in my yard due to the cats.

Such detail. We have Blue Jays but no Bluebirds.

I just learned that house finches used to be only a western species. Then pet stores started carrying them for sale in the east. Once that was made illegal, the pet shops let them go into the wild rather than be fined for having them, and that's how they became a coast to coast bird!

The western blue bird is common around here. This is the first spring I haven't had a pair in my nest box. The swallows got to it first.

I know what you mean! I think I spotted one on a trip, but mistook it for a robin. Who knew?!

I treasure each moment I can look at an Eastern Bluebird.20 years ago when my husband and I moved into town,we saw our first House Finch and it was considered a rarity. Now they are around all year.

The eastern bluebird really is adorable. I don’t think it is common to my area in the west. I don't recall ever having seen one in real life. Bluebird equals happiness in my mind. :)

Wonderful photos. I've only seen one bluebird in my life thus far. They are elusive birds around here.

Those are amazing shots. The detail is incredible. The house finch is all I get around here, but I love their morning song. That Eastern bluebird is just precious.

There is nothing common about your photos! I'm seriously impressed. These are gorgeous. Very well exposed and nice and sharp with great color! Were you using a long lens with tripod?
