Lots of people think vandalism only happens in cities and the suburbs, but this sign is evidence that it can show up even in a corner of nowhere. This trail follows an abandoned railway track and is close to the northeast corner of EG where practically no one lives (except wildlife) in a spot I would have thought could only be found by people who can read maps. LOL Why even bother vandalize a place that practically no one will ever see?

Vandalism
Lots of people think vandalism only happens in cities and the suburbs, but this sign is evidence that it can show up even in a corner of nowhere. This trail follows an abandoned railway track and is close to the northeast corner of EG where practically no one lives (except wildlife) in a spot I would have thought could only be found by people who can read maps. LOL Why even bother vandalize a place that practically no one will ever see?

Zen vandalism? It does seem a bit absurd to throw paint at a sign in the middle of the woods.
They must get some sort of thrill from doing that.
The yellow kayak belongs to my husband's son-in-law. Notice I don't call him mine. lol.
This happens everywhere, in my homeland most similar labels him has shot with hunting arms!
some people i guess have that innate urge to 'mark' their territory..? i gon't get it either, but i bet it was a guy and not a girl.
I hope it was red paint and not blood.... I hate vandslism.. it spoils and takes away. Art is ment to add and enhance it's surroundings.
I hope it did not spoil you outing to much.

Very lazy vandelism at that. Kids these days, in my day they would have pinched the whole sign, not just splashed a bit of paint! ;)
Worst Vandalism I ever saw that sticks with me whenever I think of it is-- when this winter-some fool went down to one of our beautiful Minnehaha Falls, Minnesota, that is usually an amazing ice cascade, and spray painted on it with huge orange letters, ruining it for everyone who came to look at it. And there was no way to wipe that off, it just ruined it in the memories of so many people, and I will never forget that now as I look at the falls. Maybe that is the goal of a vandal, to imprint something in other's minds, for absolutely no reason. And even though this type of vandalism isn't permenant, it will melt and go away, its still rotton...
just roaming, I agree: painting on thinks just doesn't suit most rural/wilderness settings. I would say that graffiti suits many urban settings (if done well), but the same painting wouldn't look the same out in the boonies.
I don't understand vandalism at all. It serves no purpose and the vandals never get the credit for what they did, no notoriety---so why do it. MB
I don't understand that kind of behaviour either. I guess they get a thrill out of destroying things.
