Blanketflower (Gaillardia)Although blanketflowers are native to southwestern Canada, they're "aliens" in Ontario. Welcomed aliens, though, at least by me.
It looks like someone scatterd some wildflower seeds along the bank of a country road in front of their home and now the blanketflowers are slowly spreading to nearby banks as well.
Last year blue flax bloomed here too, but it looks like the blanketflower is taking charge here.

Well done on the blanket flowers! When I lived on Long Island, there was a group that would randomly select and seed roadside spaces with wildflower seeds. You'd be driving along and see one such spot and think, "oh yes, that group, they must have been here!"

Gorgeous! You know, when I lived in Northern Idaho I used to buy packets of wildflower seeds and scatter them out along side the highway. It always looked so lovely during Spring in my favorite stretch of road. I wonder if they're still blooming?
Wildflowers that look absolutely wild! I'd love to sow wildflower seeds for our back yard hill - the prettiest ground cover...

Beautiful. They are common where I live (southwestern U.S.), but I don't tire of their color. Great pictures of them!
