Port Perry, a small town with delightful ambience, is located east of East Gwillimbury. Someone thought AHEAD and realized the old architecture on Queen Street (the main street through the town's centre) has tons of character.
Port Perry is built on the edge of Lake Scugog and attracts tourists summer and winter. Fishing is a main tourist attraction, as is a gambling casino on a nearby First Nations Reserve.
A new mall is going up on the outskirts of town with some super-box stores. Hmmmmmmm. I sure hope this doesn't change the town core!
My husband I like to visit Port Perry's used bookstore. Great books at reasonable prices. ;-)

A fun street. I do hope the atmosphere of the town doesn't change. We have a nice avenue, but too many empty shops, competition with malls. And what a great shade of red those shops are in Port Perry.
I always enjoy going to Port perry and having a wander along the interesting Main Street shops. But in this picture.... where are all the shoppers? I've never seen it so empty!
What a great looking street of stores! It really is inviting...
That's like a set of a classic movie! That's so beautiful!
Mine's HERE. Happy Tuesday!
Beautiful shot of a very quaint spot. Kudos to the local powers that be for making it a focal point.
I love that color of red and it really sets off those white petunias.
This street is charming, and should remain a draw even after the big-box retailers arrive - the big retailers all look the same, but a street like this is so unique, shoppers will always enjoy.
What a charming little town. Nicely-kept building. Good Ruby Tuesday!
WOW!! That's really beautiful! I'd love to stroll down that sidewalk!
Junie
such a beautiful picturesque street!
I'm so glad the original architecture was taken into consideration - most places don't.
This is a gorgeous place. What a lovely place to stroll among the shops.
Beautiful post!
Oh dear..big box stores. I hope that doesn't change the town because it is so adorable...
What sumptuous buildings...
Perfect for Ruby Tuesday.
What a great townshot!
That is such an appealing photo. It could be in a travel brochure. What an attractive Ruby Tuesday street.
Love the colors. White and such a rich red. I sure hope the new mall won't hurt the downtown area but it seems it always does. I will try to be positive. MB
O how glorious! This is a picture postcard street!
So charming! Love it!
Nicely seen and captured. The white flowers add a lot.
Oh what a perfect shot for Ruby Tuesday! I am not much of a shopper....but bookstores....they are my FAVORITE! I could spend weeks and weeks in a bookstore.
Oh my god, its SO nice! You could frame it and hang it on the wall!
Lovely street and shop, the great colour and flowers make it so attractive and your photo is great :-)
I'm on the next plane, EG! What a marvelous town! A Victorian Card Shop, oh my! Happy Ruby Tuesday!
I never thought I would see a street scene that I thought was just totally beautiful but this one is.
I think I'd enjoy a walk down this street.
Port Perry certainly looks inviting. I'll get my hat and coat, lets go shopping shall we?

The whole street is ruby? How wonderful. Have a great Tuesday!
A beautiful street. I'd love to visit there.
Your shot is perfect, just pulls me in to the scene.
Looks like one of those wonderful towns full of gift shops and wonderful interesting places. Good bookstores is always a winner. Really has ambiance. Pretty photo too.
Oh I so would love to be there! This is beautiful. Buildings nowadays have so little character and even less charm.
What a great downtown. Very lovely scene. :D
Happy Ruby Tuesday!
What a beautiful street! Lovely architecture, and so wonderfully landscaped. :)
Someone painted the town red and I just think it is beautiful. I'd love to visit.
I have been through here a couple of times, a beautiful little town. Next time perhaps I will stop and shop. Great photo of these store fronts!
What a great place! Good Ruby Tuesday to you!
Lovely clean storefronts!
Oh how sweet! I would have to dress up to go here and shop. Tea to.
This is such an incredibly beautiful main street. I'd love to visit this town and walk down that street. Great choice for the day.
