Geese and.../ My World
Today is "Family Day" in Ontario, a fairly new holiday our government initiated to help break up the winter doldrums. And as you can see a family of Canada geese is celebrating, swiming this creek even though there's still ice and snow. (See the sheets of ice in the shrubs and snow on the far shore.)
But wait. Someone else is celebrating too. It's...
a swan! So Mom and Pop Goose climbed up on some ice to greet their visitor.

Great take on family day. The swan was unexpected and added to the shot of the geese.
Looks like all of them are having an interesting family day:) Beautiful pictures. Great job!
I'd be very surprised if a swan were to visit me! But guess what! My geese returned this morning!
Lovely little female Goldeneye in the first picture too. Great images.
Absolutely fantastic. The swan, the geese, the snow, the photos...
Everything is perfect.
Great shot! I bet the swan was a big surprise! Really lovely photos! Thanks for sharing and have a great week!
Lovely creatures! Soothing landscape as well... Warm greetings from Africa,
Esther
They are up your way and in Georgia! Spring is coming
Beautiful birds. I saw about 20 swans together today. An amazing view.
We went to the park today and watched the ducks on the water; I'm enjoying your photos even more from the comfort of a warm sofa! Your photos are beautiful and I love your commentary too.
Hahaha, Astroelmaria... isn't it Astromedia?
Thanks for your nice visit!
Maria :)))
I'm surprised that creek's not still frozen all the way across. Actually I'm a little surprised that the geese are back so soon too. (Or did they never leave? And if they didn't, how come all their relatives are hanging around down here?)
Cool stuff... wildlife's always good copy!
How fun to share your world today. Geese make a good family depiction. Beautiful photos
What a great catch and photo for yoru new holiday! I like the idea. . . I love seeing the snow and even the river's ice. Ours is all gone and the last snowstorm we were scheduled to ahve went south to California!
Our geese are just coming back now, too. Fun to see the swan, even if the geese are giving him/her a bit of a cold shoulder.
Great celebration for "ALL" the families. Beautiful pictures.
It looks like Family Day is a big success, at least on the lake. Wonderful pictures.
I love these photos. I can only imagine how COLD that water is! But the geese and the swan don't seem to mind at all. Great shots for MyWorld!
Nice captures. Is this a sign of spring?
All I can think of is,"Wow!" when I saw those pictures of those swans/geese.What is the plural of swan anyways?
Your geese are much better to be seen than mine. The photos are great. You asked if there is a law that Aboriginal country cannot be seen without an Aboriginal guide. No, there is not such a law, but out of respect people ask permission if they see an Aboriginal person, if not they just go and try to be careful and respect nature.
Great shots!
Thanks for sharing :)
We celebrate our first Family Day by eating out at our fav chinese restaurant. There's no such thing as "Family day" in US, my husband's home country, or even in my home country, Phils., I'm glad that "we" have it here in Canada. :)
EG: Neat photos of the geese. It looked like a cute little duck was in the first shot.
I hope you enjoy your family day, grat picture of a lovely family.
beautiful! I can imagine the relief the geese and the swan felt being able to get out and feel a little bit of the sun.
That was good. HAppy family day to all - geese, swans and you!
Wonderful photographs. I love the colours in them - is that natural? Or have you done something on the computer?
I think it's natural... but I'd love to know for sure ;)
I like this holiday. I wish we had something like that down here. Love the geese shots, and I've been looking for swans here, but everything is frozen still.
B.
Really great pictures of the geese and swan visitor.
You reminded me of Christmas 1975. My room mate invited me home to Kingsville for Christmas. Her dad took me to see the Canadian geese. There were so many of them.

here in Auckland, our weather is very mild. We have a park Western Springs where the geese are resident on the lake. My favourite place and reminds me of Canada.
So lovely!
Your world is a very beautiful world. Love the Family Day idea. MB
That is a lovley sight for a new holiday...does break the doldrums, aye!

What a great idea. Hope the birdies don't get cold toes!
Both are great shots, but especially liked seeing the white swan.
their shades are so unusual so wintery looking. happt mwt.
Looks like a wonderful area for nature, great piccies
In the bottom one, it looks like they are walking on water...
Great set of photos of the ducks and the swan. Nice the government added a family day, wish ours would.
Very nice! That frozen ice in the bushes is really something else. I'm so glad you shared these.
