I have tried taking photos like this, of bits and pieces of machinery, and they just don't work. That is why I am always amazed when you make them work, and they look stunning! Love the poppy seedhead, too!
What???? Guard DOG!!!! No way, I'm with you EG.... Outstanding sepia picture! and you are always soooo creative! I loved this funny post! purrs and love Luna(from Brazil) and mommy Léia
The sepia softens the rust on the iron fence handle. If they say there is a dog on duty - well, I'd take the message to heart, make no eye contact and slowly retreat (should they let the dog out to enforce the message...)
I thinks this is one my favorite photo's that I have seen on your blog. I love the detail of the fence, the latch, chain and lock. They work so well together.
East Gwillimbury is a rural town less than an hour north of Toronto, Canada's largest city.
My family calls me CameraGirl because I take my camera with me wherever I go.

My mind keeps wanting to see this photo as an anchor. I really had to make myself see the chain and lock.
Funny that.

Nope, I wouldn't go through either!
Very nice sepia photo, though
like the lock and chain...lovely capture.
have a wonderful day.
That's a nice shot. I don't think I'd venture in there either.
:-)
But that old rusty lock makes going through the gate so inviting. Too bad.

Back away from the gate---NOW!!!
I agree with Judy---my odd bits and pieces never look like yours. Wah!!
Wonderful sepia close up.
Great post. It pays to read all warnings before going in unlocked gates.
LOL! Glad you didn't risk it and go inside. Stay safe. ;-)

Perfect!
Unlocked and open definitely not an invitation to enter in this case. :)
If their guard dog was anything like mine, you would have nothing to fear. The worst thing she does is smell bad.
This was perfect for sepia! I was going to try to post a picture for it today, but forgot.

Great photo! Knowing me, I probably would have missed the sign and went in! LOL
How'd you do that?
Great shot, whatever!
But that unlatched gate looks so inviting!
Great shot, perfect for sepia.
That poppy down below is stunning too. (I've had (am having) a horrible week and am way behind on my blogreading.)
I love the sepia. this is a perfect photo to do as sepia. Very nice.
That is a pretty big chain they must mean business... Great sepia capture. Smiles Barbara
You were probably very wise not to go in. But the gate lock does make a wonderful sepia shot.

Good thing they warned you of the guard dog. I wouldn't go in either.
That is an interesting photo of the lock - looks great in sepia.
Wise decision on your part, EG! Great Sepia Scenes shot! :)
I also thought it was an anchor at first! It's a beautiful composition.
That's why you should always carry wiener sausages with you. (:
