Coneflower/ Macro Monday

Purple coneflower seed head

I don't cut the coneflower seed heads down until our local goldfinches have eaten all the seeds. As you can see, at least one goldfinch has strted on this one!

I almost posted one of these..I too leave them and I am always pleased to see the little goldfinch eating the seed even with the thistle feeder a short distance away. They must taste really good....

Busy birds. I let mine go to seed too. I may save some if they all don't get eaten. Excellent shot. MB

Sometimes I think that seed heads make more interesting pictures than the flowers!

This is a beautiful macro, but I doubt if the remaining seeds are going to be there long. The finches at our house are eating like mad!

YOu make me want to go out and look at the neighbors old blooms and see if the birds are eating the seeds. :) Love your shot!

My coneflowers so not look like yours. This one is really neat. Love that you save them all for the goldfinches. I know they appreciate it. This is a most appealing and interesting macro shot.
