Yep, we had our first snowfall last Saturday!
I didn't realize we'd had enough snow to make a snow person until I saw this snow person. I took the photo on Sunday and although the snow person still had a nose and scarf, it had no eyes or mouth so it couldn't see me or smile.
The birds were acting crazy on Friday. How did they know it would snow the next day? These birds are chickadees (photos 2 and 4 working clockwise) that I photographed on Sunday at a wildlife area. Photo 3 is a dried-out wild cucumber (Echinocystis lobata) that has dropped it's seeds to sprout next spring. Notice it has a light dusting of snow. There's a tad more snow on the mountain ash berries (Sorbus) and sedum

I like the snow person even without eyes or a mouth - cute! I am sure hoping for snow again this year. Normally we do not get a significant snowfall but about once every 5 years or so.
The snow person doesn't look like he/she will be around too long.
My Goodness, snow already - didn't think we would be seeing a snowperson quite so soon. A x
we certainly didnt have enough snow here to make a snow person, but I drove up to Mt Albert on Friday and passed many white fields on the way. Brrrr.... break out the long johns.
I didn't realize either that we had, had that much snow? Loving the days though now with this gorgeous sunny weather.

No eyes or mouth, but what a dress full of autumn colors ;-)
Oh EG you do the very best collages.
Snow--oh no!!! We got some in the mts and foothills but here yet. It is cold enough though.

Lovely images! The birds definitely seem to know when a weather change is coming .... how do they do that??
That's funny! Looks like they used every scrap of snow they could find.
A snow person! He/She is cute even without a smile.
delightful collage today . . . I love the snowman on the green grass.
Yikes - you have your first snow already! It was almost like Summer yesterday but the weather forecaster says Winter will arrive this weekend!
I do wonder how the birds seem to know that bad weather is coming. So far we have had only a bit of snow and nothing that sticks...I guess both of us will be getting some warmer weather this weekend....Michelle
Snow!! Oy! ;)
I love how the leaves are stuck on the snow person
Someone really wanted to celebrate your first snow! I wouldn't mind a light dusting, but I'm not ready for enough snow to build a snowperson! I really like the individual photos in your collage.
I love the dusting of snow on the bur cucumber! The first snowperson never stays long...
I bet the snow person is very small today with this wonderful weather we are having. Not sure if I am ready to see snow yet.
Thanks for sharing the snow person. . . we haven't had any in the valleys yet but lots in the mountains.
Melted by now? Lovely mosaic!
I love the snow person. I've noticed the chickadees go crazy here before it snows. As a matter of fact I often predict when we'll get snow (not that often here) based on the birds activity. You got your first snow and we got our first frost. I always enjoy your nature mosaics.
I'm glad you can enjoy it. I love the snow covered sedum. The ash berries (those are the red ones?) are mighty pretty, too.
Birds are canny beasties, the magpies have a different note in their call just before a downpour, it just gives me time to dash under cover.
Love your chickadees and the slightly leafy snow person.
The birds..? They just now when the day after will be different, coler, warmer, rain, snow.. It's fun to follow them, experiment..
And - haha - look to that snowman with the carrotnose!! Funny! I just love him!! :)
That's a lovely collage of snow photos. No snow here yet in Northern Virginia.
