A road into one of several tracts of the York Regional Forest
The day after Christmas is Boxing Day in Ontario, unless Christmas was on a Saturday. THEN, Boxing Day is on Monday! It's a holiday. Some people shop till they drop at after-Christmas sales. Others watch sports on TV. For sure the mall parking lots will be crowded!
No one seems to know why the day is called Boxing Day. The name may refer to the tradition way back in time of wealthy people boxing up gifts for their servants.
Me in My World? I would prefer to be in the forest than either at the mall or in front of my TV. But I might be blogging. :)
Visit My World Tuesday HERE to see tons of photos from around the world.

This is quite beautiful.
Happy holiday to you from Mrs S and Boonie
This is lovely and it looks like it belongs on the front of a holiday card.
I'd join you in the forest. No after Christmas shopping fever for me.

I love the combination of the evergreen and deciduous trees along the road!
It is a beautiful scene. I love the snow covered pine trees. I wish you and your family all the best in the New Year 2011.
Very pretty, EG.
Brrrrr....
I would rather be outside (unless it is frozen and snowy) or inside reading or like you said--blogging.
But not out shopping. My friend asks if I wanted to go for some shopping sails and I said "NO!!".
Beautiful! Happy Boxing Day. I prefer you choice of "worlds" as well. (Although I'll take the beach instead of the forest this time of year.) But definitely NOT the mall (or the TV set).
Our friends from England said it is the day people give gifts to the postman, trash man, doorman, beauty operator etc etc.... I'd guess most of those gifts fit in an envelope though ;>) so your explanation is probably the right one.
I've always wondered about Boxing Day. Beautiful shot from the forest.
Love the photo, very seasonal :)
We've still got snow here... We've had it for about a month now, which is unusual in the UK (don't usually get it until after Christmas).
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. All the best for 2011!
Wow! Greensboro is looking more like Canada every day!
Here's to another great year for the city daily photo community!

No Boxing Day here, it was back to work and sometimes I wish I were in England. Then I'd get Boxing Day! This is winter wonderland for sure.
Lovely! I may hit some stores tomorrow.
On, this is just a breathtaking scene. I can feel the cold on my nose, which is beginning to run, and the tips of my ears beginning to feel tingly. But it's what I hear that surpasses what I feel. I hear the silence and it is beautiful.
Whatta wonderful, white, winter wonderland! Wow!
I'd rather be taking a walk through your winter wonderland than braving the crowds at the mall! Beautiful shot. Happy new year to you and yours.
Me too, you wouldn't see me out shopping . I'd much rather be enjoying the outdoors. Our trees look the same and are so pretty till the wind picks up and blows all that snow to the ground.

It is a gorgeous setting, but where doth the road lead to? Other than precious solitude?
I completely agree with you that the forest is a better place to be than the mall or by a television. This is a wonderful picture.
BEAUTIFUL!! I agree with you - put me in the forest/woods and I am happy!
I could get lost in there. Great shot.
