Evening Sun/ Sky Watch

Sunset over corn stubble

This photo was taken in mid January. I wish I could now remember where the photo was taken but, truth be told, many farmer's fields are covered in snow and corn stalks cut to  to about 18-inches high. Hopefully your eyes can ignore the burdock stem that sneaked into the bottom right  portion of the photo.

Nice soft light over these stalks. It is hard to distinguish one field from another at times, eh?!

Your picture is beautiful as usual, and I like a lot the sensation of a cold morning there!

I feel cold by just looking at the landscape.

Love the sunset and the words, "corn stubble".

Lovely, EG. I do love the look of the cut corn fields. All the stubble is just the same height. Like 5:00 o'clock stubble. MB

Nice sunset shot...love the soft colors...mine is with corn stubble too...your pictures often look like Ohio to me.

What lovely soft colors in this sky. Nice calming photo.

Oh, yes! I can feel the cold! A terrific capture as always. Love the colors, but won't it be nice when they're warmer??? Hope you have a great weekend! Stay warm!

This is a beautiful wintry scene, even if it does look cold.

It is a very peaceful shot! Lets you forget how mean winter can be.

This is how we look now after yet more snow, but it is very pretty especially at sunset like this.

Beautiful shot! Agriculture in winter is a very interesting topic; quiet, empty, stoic.

Just waiting for the geese to land!

What a fine photo! I just learned that in dryland farming (which we have a lot of in the Southwest) stubble is left behind in the fields to capture and little extra snow and thus channel water into the soil. Never knew that before!

Happy Skywatching.

i don't mind the burdock stem, my eyes were focused on the sky! :)

Nice shot. The snow, sunset, corn stubble, and even the burdock all evocative of the cold.

This beautiful shot reminds me of the corn field behind my daughter’s house in Marlyland. I just love walking back there with my camera. Each time it is totally different thanks to the light and time of day. The lighting in this one is so lovely. It looks cold but very serene and quiet.

It's strange to think that before too long new corn will be growing there! Very pretty photo.

The stalks really accented the beauty of the fields and skies!

Well, it is still a classic, whichever fields they are . . .

I didn't see the stem until you mentioned it. Here the fallow fields are full of Sand Hill Cranes and other birds instead of snow.

Beautiful sunset. This field looks like one not far from where I live!

The cut stalks covered with snow give the field sort of a finale for rest. Above the sky in a pastel hue matches the scene very well.

the burdock stem added a perspective! We've lost the snow already but it seems this weekend will be full again :)

I think the feeling of cold in this picture is very good - but the colour (color!) in the sky hints of other things to come.

Well done!

When the days are cold and short... soft light like this warms the heart.

[I was a bit mean to call my skies smog, as that far south it was probably more a normal haze. My sweetie said it was like that in Guangdong when he was growing up there, and then there was NO pollution.]

A beautiful sunset is spectacular.

Great beauty amongst a bleak field. Enjoy your weekend.

I love these soft tender colors. I haven't known Canadians also eat burdock roots like us Japanese.
