Z/Alphabe-Thursday

ZERO Tolerance on the Gardiner Expressway, Toronto, Ontario

This shot was taken Friday, close to sundown on the Gardiner Expressway, a major road that runs through the south side of Toronto. I didn't see any police but that certainly does NOT mean they weren't there.  In case you think 90 is rather fast for an expressway running through a city, it's NOT MPH but KPH - kilometres per hour, which means 55 mph. (And no, I was NOT the driver. I'm sure there's ZERO tolerance for people taking photos as they drive too.)

I am linking to Jenny Matlock at Alphabe-Thursday HERE

Most of the time you wouldn't be able to get up to 90 with all the traffic!

watch your speed!!

Around here, it seems a sign posted for the speed serves as a challenge to a lot of drivers...to see how fast they can go without getting caught. If you are going the speed limit, everyone is passing you by....especially on the interstates.

the speed limit on the 1-15 corridor between Salina and Cedar is actually 90 mph--my husband and I drove it last week. It was sure nice :)

Zhat was a nice catch for Z day!

So no 10-mile-an-hour grace range, eh?

It appears they mean business, too. :)

How about for people chatting away on their cell phones? Definitely zero tolerance for that!!!

Where we are, you take the posted speed limit and add 10, and that is the speed at which the general traffic moves.

That is a great sign! I need one of that to put it near the school zone..

It seems as if no matter where it may be...there will always be someone going faster than another...

I wonder how many are ticketed on that stretch.

As I started your reading your post and saw the sign, I was going to ask about the 90...thinking it was 90mph! :o)

Blessings & Aloha!

So I went to Canada with my boyfriend a few years ago and when we came back through the border, he told the customs officer that he loved Canada, but had a hard time driving fast enough to keep up with the signs...

She looked at him like he was an idiot (which he may or may not be, I'm just sayin...) and smiled like she had heard the joke a million times.....

sigh...

lovely photo!

Zero tolerance for taking pictures while driving. I have that habit and these days my wife strictly prohibit me from doing so.

Beautiful picture.

Glad you had both hands on the camera and not the wheel!

We need signs like this but for talking on your cell phone and driving.

Cool sign ... great post.

Zero tolerance is certainly different from what we have around here. Driving the speed limit here will get you run over. Y all the other cars on the road.

Hi! I don't see your email address on your profile so I'm leaving a comment here on something completely different. I've finished reading "The Orchid Thief" and I'm wondering if you would like to read it. If so, please send me your mailing address. My email contact is on my profile. Cheers.

Zero tolerance for drivers taking pictures? Oh, oh. I could be in trouble in Toronto! But, then again, I'm very sneaky so probably won't get caught.

Zero Tolerance....that's become a popular phrase these days. In the states we call 55 mph 'The Double Nickle'...well truckers do and very few drive that speed anymore since the speed limit is as much as 80 mph on some interstates here in West Texas. Great Letter Z!

What a funny sign. Zero tolerance!

That one goes the extra mile...

No doubt the police are looking out for suspiciously raised cameras!

Living in the northwoods and the gateway for more southern vacationers from neighboring states, a lot of our traffic IS going 90 (MPH) in a 55 MPH zone...gotta make the most of that weekend away...

I spy with my little eye...a major speed trap!

Whew! Thanks for clearing up the KPH! I was just thinking I wouldn't be driving there.~Ames

Wow a sign that actually says zero tolerance...I think that's pretty intimidating. Probably why I don't like to drive too because I'm one of those people who gets spooked by signs like that :)

I was definitely wondering about driving and clicking. Thanks for clarifying.

Aren't you clever?

For a moment I thought this might be the freeway around Boston...I swear they all go at least 90MPH while takign pictures AND brushing their teeth.

Although the freeways around Phoenix are a close second.

This was a cool wrap up to a fun season of Alphabe-Thursday!

Thanks for participating!
