Diva Emu
Meet three animals I recently photographed in East Gwillimbury. All were caught in UNUSUAL poses and would be mortified to know I've posted these photos on my blog. SHHH! Don't tell!
Such grace, such elegance. Diva Emu lives on a local farm, strutting her stuff among her adoring public: a herd of cows and a few chickens and ducks.
Added later: Thanks so much, Karen, for correcting me. I'm sure Diva would have been very upset with me if she knew I'd called her an ostrich.
Great Blue Heron, Esq. capturing a tasty morsel
At the time of this shooting, the usually handsome and debonair heron was far more interested in this tasty morsel than he was in my camera. What do you think his lawyer would say if I said in my defense: "You snooze, you loose?"
Loco Limousin begs: Oh come on, give me a kiss!
What can I say? Isn't Loco adorable?

Loco is beautiful and if i were there he would get a kiss from me. the diva looks like a ballerina with a tutu. great shot of the heron ignoring you.
i love Cows so pick Loco as my favorite today
Great shots, especially that of the heron. They are so patient and I've never actually seen them catch anything.
Loco is adorable!I think your pictures are great, congratulations! It's not easy to take pictures of animals and "kids"!You do it very well. :)
Hugs

I have been known to kiss a few animals or two, and Loco would be another one for a smack or two.
Great shots. The diva looks like she should be wearing a tiara
Your diva is an emu, not an ostrich :)
Awesome these are too funny. B Love the cow I don't know why.:) B
Fun post, great shots. I think I'll pass on the kiss tho :)
I would definitely kiss and hug Loco :-)
Great shots, I don't know how you managed to get the one of the heron just capturing his fish. The cow shot is very funny.
These are great! I agree it's special to catch the image at just the right moment to get the action. :) Terrific. That heron appeared to be keeping her wings above the green water to keep them out of that algae. "Ewwww, I don't want to get my wings dirty, but I sure want to eat that fish!"
These are all fantastically wonderful captures.
Too cute! All three of them are stars! Or perhaps its your great photos.
The ostrich reminds me of a strip-tease dancer with all that feathery plumage! Maybe she is emulating Gypsy Rose Lee!
Wonderful! Specially the last one!
Greetings
Elisa
Love the emu... she looks distracted. The cow is funny, nice shot of the heron and the fish.
Loco wins for the friendliest pose!
Too funny! I like the way you've made a little "background" on each of the animals. :)
I just love that shot of the cow :)
Wonderful pictures! And yes, that cow certainly has a kissable nose.

I love Loco best. What a cutie-pie!
Those are amazing captured! The first photo, Diva was like dancing..
What a brilliant idea and such fabulous photos!
Wonderful nature photos! The cow, well, YES! I could kiss that cow!!!
No problem with the emu identification - being Australian helps :) Looks like you had a lot of fun with these photos.
Oh, and Diva probably wouldn't have noticed anyway - they're not the brightest birds, as anyone who has ever driven along an outback road and sent a mob of them into a panic would know. They don't run away from the road - they run in a circle, on the road, before peeling off and tripping over fences.
I love that emu!
I think I need one...
Loco is adorable!!!
lol Love that cow!
vivid shots, love your new found animal friend.
Well done! Love your unusual poses!!
Loco really is a cutie!
JDaniel would love to see these birds.
LOve all tree of them, great idea and U words
You caught some great photos, I love the emu, and I would have called it an ostrich too! xo,
Love the emu. We have some really rare emu's in the Clarence Valley but I always photo them in a ploughed paddock, so brown on brown is not a very interesting photo!
These are wonderful captures. You have to be quick to catch a heron eating - well done!
Your diva is very elegant indeed. No wonder that rich, classy ladies loved to wear ostrich( sorry!) feathers. The cow is very good looking. She makes a lovely Christmas ball for your Christmas tree.
Have a wonderful rest of the week.
Diva has style, Diva is very diva-ish. Nice one!
Congratulations on that heron shot! I have seen them catch fish, though never one quite that big.
U is Unusually hard, but you turned Unusual into a Useful post! Kudos, EG! And your posers made me smile, too!
Great pictures! Loco is my favorite!
I'm not tellin'. But I bet you let Missy Moo give you a big smooch. Bwahahahaha!!!

The cow reminds me of La vache qui rit!
Greetings from THE Dairy State - Wisconsin...thankful for our dairy herds and we live in the midst of farmland but don't think I would like to kiss that face! :o)
Aww, Loco is such a cutie :) Oh and I just love the name 'Diva Emu' because she really does look like one in that first photo!
Fantastic shot of the heron. You did really well to capture him capturing!
Unusual, indeed. Emus are such odd creatures to being with. They always seems a bit mean to me.
