Marina on Cook's Bay, Ontario
Last Friday, the sun was low in the sky when we pulled into this now very quiet marina. Most of the boats were out of the water making it possible to see and photograph this reflection.

Today Canada celebrates Remembrance Day, originally meant to remember those Canadians who fought in the First World War. Sad to say, the "war to end all wars" didn't end national conflicts, so now the day also includes those who fought in the Second World War...and also those who more recently served Canada in peace-keeping missions as well as fought in Afghanistan and Libya.

I still have my red poppy from Canada. Poland celebrated its Independence Day today.
I recall Armistice Day with memories of red poppies and pausing at 11 am in my classroom at school to remember the dead soldiers. Doesn't happen anymore. So sad, but glad that it is still a day of remembrance.
Nice reflection EG, and yes, may we never forget the sacrifice made by so many for our freedom,
Gorgeous reflections!
love the reflection, it is a perfect one. and it is to bad the war to end all wars did not end them.
Where have all the speedboats gone?
Gone to davits ev'ry one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?
Okay, that's pretty corny. But I do like your reflection made possible by the absence of boats due to the oncoming winter.
And I do appreciate your tribute to all those Canadian men and women who sacrificed to support the cause of freedom down through the years.
Hahahahaha!
Lowell so funny!
I love your weekend reflections!

2 good reflections. I think I saw more poppies being worn this year than ever!
Excellent reflection. The poppy image is very nice and expressive.
That must be a nice place and some lovely reflections you've shot! =)
I'm sorry for the Canadian people.. You've made a nice post to remember not to forget them.
I love the photo. My Grandpa fought in the WW1 and WW2 so it means lots to me. B
Great shot.....summer's ended. My Canadian friends here in the park in AZ have commented about the Remembrance Day celebrations in Canada, and how everyone wears poppies. They DO sell poppies in the States, although we hardly saw anyone this year!
the reflections are so remarkable!
fantastic shot!
nice place and wonderful photo
Peaceful and quiet. Off for the season. Love the reflection!
Weekend Reflection
A beautiful reflection. Has there been any snow? I hope not!
My Weekend Reflections dealt with my daddy and his service in WWI. This is such a pretty reflection shot on such a sad day for me. That war took much of this life from him though he was not hurt physically. I am still in awe of the number of Canadian Boys who lost their lives especially in Belgium. The cemeteries went for what seemed like mile and likes of white crosses and Canada was on most of them. I did not get to the cemeteries where US soldiers were buried. It was an emotional week for me. genie
Excellent reflection! The light is perfect!
we remembered too, but not a public holiday.
you paid the boat owners so you can take this special photo? LOL.
I really like your photo of the empty marina. The lighting is wonderful. This is a nice tribute for Remembrance Day.
Remembrance Day is parallel to the US Veterans's Day.
Beautiful reflection shotS!
Very nice indeed.
It's sad that so many countries around the world observe Remembrance Day - so much loss and heartache.
Love your reflections - the water looks like a painting!
Wouldn't mind sitting on one of those adirondacks...
At first I thought the slip was empty because the boats had been taken out of the water for winter. Glad folks are still able to enjoy a day on the water.
Lovely reflection.
Beautiful reflections in the water. So pretty!
So happy you were able to see this reflection, and the share it with us!
Evening light enhances. This is a lovely image.
