Trent-Severn Waterway at Fenelon Falls, Ontario
Last Thursday, looking easterly, the water was ice free and very blue reflecting the cloud-free sky.
Looking in the opposite direction
But looking westerly to the lake on the other side, there was ice. Here you could see water on the inside of the lock that had leaked through and formed ice.
Icicles below the dam
On the southerly side of the lock, icicles dripped off the dam.
Mural at the station that regulates the locks
But on the northerly side, a mural depicted warmer days, albeit many years ago.

Quite a contrast but it all looks cold. We are having our first snow of the winter. It is not even sticking on the roads and they still cancelled school. Son is doing a happy dance.
The ice makes it feel colder than it probably is. The mural is a good way to change the temperature gauge!
I am sure if we had, had a "normal" winter there would be tons of ice there.
Great shots,
Gill
Love those ice shots.
really cool ice shots and i assume that life preserver is JUST in case someone falls over the wall. and i like that mural
Great shots of the ice. Sure looks cold. The mural is fantastic.
These are cold -- but beautiful -- scenes.
Nice to see umbrellas were being used during that time depicted in the mural to protect from the sun. And the frozen mini waterfalls on the leaking lock and under the dam are cold reminders that winter is still hidden in the shadowed nooks and crannies.
The ice patterns in the third image form an interesting image. Love the red accents in this piece!
WOW, beautiful, and I love the mural!
A very nice series of shots...I'm sure there is a rational explanation why the difference in ice in different places of the same area...
But I'll just enjoy your photos for now.
The Trent-Severn system is one continuous photo opportunity, all 4 seasons. Nicely captured.
The icicle shot is fantastic!
The icicle shot is fantastic!
Interesting how the ice/water is divided. Like that mural too.

Quite the contrast. Cool shots.
It is interesting how much difference it makes looking in different directions.
You've just given me an idea... Thanks! You may be fed up with winter but I'm relishing this!
It would be exciting to walk and see this locks! And is it possible to walk along the riverside,it's like I can see a trail to the left between the trees, in the first picture here? I would very much like to walk there! The best view is on the first picture, I think. But so interesting also to see the ducks!
Wonderful shots of the lock and the waterway. The first shot is my favorite. Thanks for sharing, great photos.
Terrific, wintery captures and it does look COLD!! Love your captures for the day -- as always! Hope you have a great week!

Looks like spring is not far off!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Snow thrills and that is because I hardly get to see it here.
Isn't the ice amazing. I'm finding it in places I wouldn't have expected, and not in others.
Cheers from Cottage Country!
Looks cold and very beautiful. Love the icicles at the dam. The other day I saw a picture of a frozen waterfall in France. Your photo reminded me of it.
The mural is a wonderful addition to your post. The photos of the icy waters are absolutely beautiful. I love always seeing the little life preservers alongside the water. I remember seeing them in England. A great post this week. genie
My goodness it looks cold, still with all that ice. I appreciate the photos of the murals you have been posting lately.
It did get cold and snowy this week...
Love that first shot...just makes me want to be there so bad.
Great mural, too.
The icicles look like stalactites on a cave wall. The mural reminds us of days gone by.
Awesome icicles.
You live in a beautiful place!
Wonderful icicles! Love the contrast between the ice and the ice-free parts.
Clear skies and clear water, perfect combination!
these all look cold to me.:p
but the free-flowing water and sunshine are lovely.
great captured! - - - no mystery - just an egg. there is a link leading to the answer :)
Great photos! Brrrr...
Great shots! Looks VERY cold. Brrrrrr!
It also was very cold in Belgium and it looks very much the same ! I can feel the cold through the screen !
Beautiful pictures, that's quite a contrast.
I never get tired of seeing icey pictures. They are so interesting.
