Swimming in Lake Ontario
Gadwalls are medium-sized dabbling ducks most common on the Canadian Prairies or in the Dakotas, so I was surprised to see a few wintering here. I think this duck is very beautiful.

THis is a beautiful duck.
It is a beauty. It looks so soft.
a true beauty, all that detail in the feathers. he/she is perfect for camouflage in the woods.
I stopped by to feed ducks yesterday at the local pond. Does this count?
What interesting feathers there on the front (chest?) of the duck.

You're lucky. We don't have an dabbling ducks here. We have lots of babbling ducks, though. We also have lots of babbling idiots. We're very lucky...
Swimming in Lake Ontario looks like it would take a hearty duck to survive its frigid temperatures. This lovely dabbling duck looks like it has abundant soft feathers that are enough to keep it warm.
Indeed very beautiful EG. I have never seen one. There have been several species wintering over on Lake Erie too since it hasn't frozen.

He is a very handsome chap, especially his chest feathers.
Nice shot on this one. The feathers are nicely textured that it looks soft.
Cute little lady!
I heard on the TV yesterday that the lake temp is +3˚C so it probably feels quite nice compared to the Prairies or Dakotas. It is a beauty.
Warm and downy!
A lovely brown color.
I've never seen one, I don't think! How lovely!
Cheers from Cottage Country!
I love the patterns in his feathers -- beautiful picture of a beautiful duck.
He/she has spied something in the water. Probably a bug to eat!

Nicely done, EG. The duck looks very serene.
She is a beauty. I must keep a look out to see if there are more of them around.
EG, what a lovely camera critter it is! :)
Just as in the increased number of Snowies (owls), we have new guests. It should be a very interesting spring.
