July 1st is Canada Day. YAY, a day to celebrate the 145th birthday since Confederation, which in 1867 united the then colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario.
Hopefully on Monday I'll show you how I celebrated.
I almost forgot to say, this is a poppy blooming in my gardens today. I chose a red blossom since Canada's colours are red and white.

I spent Canada Day enjoying a BBQ at my son's house, surrounded by family.... had a great time. I beat YoungerSon at bocce, but then I was beaten by OlderSon. Then we watched the Tottenham town fireworks and had our own fireworks display, including sparklers! FUN!
I love your poppy picture. I tried to grow poppies at my previous house but didn't have much luck with them. But they are lovely, such bright colours.
