Baby raccoon
At dusk, this very young raccoon was out and about with its sibling, unbeknownst to its mom. Here it's at the side of the road not one bit afraid of me. In fact, it kept walking up to me so close that most of the photos I took of it were duds. I was using a long lens so did not want it to come so near.
Same baby raccoon taken with different lens
Unfortunately, by the time I was using a different lens, the raccoon had crossed the street. I captured this shot just before the two babies hid under a car.
Where was the mother? Where do you think? If you guessed foraging in a trash can, you'd be correct.
A few minutes after the babies toddled into the woods, the mom appeared looking very concerned. She finally missed her babies!

Cute, but you don't want them living anywhere near you!
Great shots! I know they can be considered pests but I do love seeing the rascally little critters.
Great shots:) B
So small and sweet. Nice captures, CG.
They are cute, the baby is adorable. But they are very destructive. They have just about destroyed all my bird feeders. Great captures, have a wonderful weekend!
Good thing no cars were passing...
They're cute but definitely not cuddly!
How can something so cute be such a pesky critter?!!!?
Nice shots.
another example of why you should never take the kids with you when you're grocery shopping
Long lens or not, it's still a good shot.
You know...I love raccoon! This one is so cute!
It's a dream for me to meet one day a raccoon and maybe with luck, take some pictures.
Léia
love it! you captured it perfect :)
They are cute, but not so fun when you find them stuck in the garage rafters!
They are so adorable but so much trouble. Love seeing them up close and personal.
So cute, but I understand they are trouble.
The raccoon so very beautiful! :) We do not have them here, so this is fun for me to see! :)
Lovely weekend to you! :)
This baby is so cute. But they can be very destructive.
Have a great weekend.
They are so cute! However, they are terrorizing out garden. ;)
so very cute. having the wrong lens on is my pet peeve. the long does not work good up close and i always seem to have the wrong one on. i need two cameras, one for long one for short and one for each shoulder.
you totally win the 'Cute' award today!!!
Great shot!

now that is CUTE.
Sweet, but keep an eye out for mama! That's why I always carry 2 cameras - one with a long lens, one with a wide. I don't like swapping lenses "in the field" too often.
I have seen them only in zoos. Great shots.
Very cute little ones. :)
There are cute little pests!
Cute shots!
Darn those babies, they run off every time! LoL! Cute lil bandits! =)
They sure are cute but can be troublesome too.
Oh my gosh, he's so cute! I've never seen one in person before, that must have been fun.
Oh my goodness--just about the cutest things I've seen in a long time! Aren't baby animals wonderful!?
They only look cute until they rummage through your bins and dig up your garden! ;)
We've caught a cousin of your critter trying to forage on our deck a couple of times this week. I wish I could send him up to you so he could join the rest of the family.
Cute little critters!
So adorable. We used to have one at the last place we lived. I named him Peanut Johnson.
Oh so cute! I've never seen one in the wild.
Fascinating little chap! We don't have them in the UK of course. Nice to see your photos.
They sure do look cute, but can be very pesky in the garden.
He's a cutie!! Good thing the mom wasn't around. She may have not liked her baby getting so close to you.
Wonderful shots of the raccoon.
Raccoons are so funny...but if they get too friendly I worry 'cause we've had some here with rabies. In Pennsylvania, they climbed out back steps to the top deck where the garbage was and pried loose the covers and made terrible messes in the snow!
Babies, no matter what they are, are so dang cute! The butterfly above is awesome!
You caught terrific shots! We are wary of them here because of some rabies cases, but these babies are irresistable!
