Head to Ear
Here you see three sculptures that are currently outside the Alton Mill Arts Centre in Caledon, Ontario, which my husband and I visited a couple of weeks ago.
Head to Ear by Marlene Hilton Moore: In this bronze sculpture, an ear fragment is situated near lips underscoring the concept of listening.
Head in the Ocean
Also by Marlene Hilton Moore: Two bronze heads joined to form a vessel listening to the sound of a waterfall, restoring and replenishing the psyche and reminding its viewers to live in harmony with nature.
Fallen
Fallen by Floyd Elzinga: This stainless steel and steel piece represents brokenness. A right bud (which you cannot see in this photo) implies a hope that can never be realized.

I drove through Alton twice a day for three years to and from work. I worked in Mississauga and lived in Orangeville. Thanks for taking me back.

Wonderful art. I love your photos!
Very expressive and unique art! The fallen leaf that is so veined is an inanimate object yet manages to convey fluidity and a sense of melancholy.
I love all of these sculptures. The first is my favorite.
The sculptures and the meaning that each one has is something I love it.
nice photos!
the faces are a bit eerie to me, but i love that leaf. :)
Great sculptures. I like the leaf the best.
They are all quite nice for the reasons you explained.
'Head in the Ocean' resonates for moi.
I so love the 'Fallen' one...the others make me think of a book I read years ago called A Blessing on the Moon by Joseph Skibell.
Good pics. That is a great museum visit.
These are very interesting, but not particularly my cup of tea....I love the modeling of the leaf. It's beautiful. But, your description of the entire sculpture is so sad!
I really like the first 2, the leaf not so much!
Interesting...
The sort of thing I love to see, and ponder!
Oh I just love that face. Umm, half face.
Very impressive and meaningful sculptures!
I think the fellow in the first shot is going to have a touch time 'earing you, though, even if'n you shout!

I love all these, but especially the top one! For such a bleak-ish message, that last one is actually upliftingly pretty.
These are amazing sculptures and they do indeed grab you!! Terrific captures of them all! I really love these -- all of them, the last one really "spoke" to me! Beautiful! Thanks for sharing! Have a great week!

Oh, but these sculpture are really grand! Trying to imagine their size? And how nice for everyone that they're displayed outside where you can be really close to investigate. Is this a permanent installation? Hope so, because it has appeal for all ages.
Impressive pieces indeed. Loved the last one. Thank you for this inspiration. Please have you all a good Tuesday.
