Bull thistle
Prickly and invasive, the bull thistle (Cirsium vulgare) is not popular with most humans. If you have ever stepped with bare feet on its first year basal rosette - as I have - you can guess at least one reason why.
But insects love them!

...and love the bee, and the previous butterfly and the bunny! Many nice B's...
God bless you!

The color of the thistle just pops off the page. Lovely shot!
And they make such pretty pictures!
They are invasive and prickly, but I love those beautiful flowers.
They may not feel good on the feet, but they are lovely for the eyes. The color is wonderful.
Happy Sunday,
Lois
They are considered noxious weeds here, but they are so pretty.
Thank you for sharing at YSB this week.
I love them to...if only for their beautiful color...and it is Eyeore's favorite meal ;)...or so I have heard.
Excellent! I love seeing the bee in action!
really beautiful. love that laden bee!
I think they are beautiful, but sure don't want to step on one!
I had lots of those growing on my lawn.... had a wonderful time digging them out, the nasty prickly things!
My toes are curling!
It makes a beautiful picture and a great place for the bee and butterfly to feed.
Thistles do make for pretty pictures!
well they may not be good to step on, but it sure is a beautiful flower, i love the stem as much as the flower and the bee looks like he is about to put down a straw and drink deeply
Beautiful flower on a nasty plant. I can see why the bees love them. Fine photo.
I think that Mother Nature looked kindly on us in Florida and did not send us the Cirsium vulgare. 'Tis pretty, though. Some say it's the bees knees.
Nice shot of an awful plant. We live on 2.5 acres, and I was out spraying invasive weeds this morning.
Hi EG! Re your comment on Ocala DP: I could tell you, but then I'd have to ... Well, you know how the rest goes.
:-) Actually, I don't know what I did but it worked.
They sure are pretty, though!
Greetings from Cottage Country!
I have some unpleasant memories of this thistle, but I must admit that this is a marvelous photo.
This is absolutely gorgeous.
Wonderful detail and color!
It may be bad for us, but it makes a beautiful photo! (And the bee!)
Beautifully captured!! Even weeds are pretty!!! Excellent shot of the bee. Mickie:)
It is not a friendly plant, but it is nicely captured along with the bee!
