Cultivated water LILY in a private pond
Here in Ontario, cultivated water LILIES need to be over-wintered indoors.
Wild water lily
But fragrant water lily (Nymphaea odorata) is hardy and native to Ontario. It can stay outdoors all winter, no problem.

Here in the UK "waterlily" is the answer to the quiz question "Which English native wildflower has the largest blooms" - everyone knows the answer when they are told but very few ever think of it for themselves.
Beautiful flowers, beautiful pictures.
These are beautiful Camera Girl. B
I have a small and I do mean small water pond in my backyard. It's big enough for two lilies... the same ones showing in your photos. Were you in my backyard Camera Girl?
These are lovely -- but I've never been a big fan of having to overwinter anything! Lol.
Both the wild and the cultivated lilies are gorgeous.
Both are beautiful, I'd opt for the one that is native to the area tho.

so beautiful and this is something i do not have a single photo of. i love the reflections
But I bet it doesn't look like this in February. Grin!
So very beautiful!
they're just gorgeous!
They are good looking individually, but when the wild ones take over a lake, they choke out everything else. Here they're a pest to be ericadicated, which is almost impossible.
I don't even know what "overwinter" means, living here in practically tropical Texas!
Splendid shots, love those reflections.
Oh so pretty, I don't see enough water lilies around here! I like that you juxtaposed both wild and cultivated ones here, lovely.
Love the pink colour waterlily. All three awesome shots.
They are beautiful captures!
Gode billeder af de smukke åkander.
Tak for kigget.
Ha` en dejlig aften.
Thank you for the splendid water lily shots. I love them and the last one is a stunner.
These are really beautiful, thank you for sharing.
Lovely. They are both such beautiful flowers.
I had no idea a variety exists that can overwinter outdoors! Absolutely beautiful photos!

Piękne zdjęcia pięknych wodnych kwiatów. Pozdrawiam.
Beautiful photos of beautiful water flowers. Yours
Interesting bits about what can stay outdoors. I also enjoyed the piece of information in the comments about them being considered wildflowers in the UK.
Such beautiful water lilies!!
Wonderful images! There is really something special with waterlilies :)
These are so beautiful.
Beautiful pictures!
These are absolutely beautiful and works of art!
The reflection of the pond lilies against the water are really nice. The pink color has a soft and sharp image in the water. Nicely done!
Those are pretty water lilies, Ms. E.G. You did them well in your photos.
I found one for my "L" word also. Mine is a yellow Mexican variety.
..
Beautiful pictures ;-)

I would never have imagined such a thing as winter-hardy water lilies. Nature is amazing in its ability to adapt!
These shots are gorgeous and I would never guess a water lily to be so hardy! Hmmm...I love learning new stuff! I was late linking up so missed it but please come visit anyway! I hate missing this fun!
