Tubing on the Grand River, Fergus, Ontario
A couple of weeks ago as my husband and I walked over a bridge to the main street in Fergus, we looked down to see a family of adults floating on inner tubes.
Limestone cliffs and remains of a limestone wall and stairway
Here the river was running slower than usual.
Stone stairway
This family was likely looking for cool relief on a hot summer day, but oops!
Properly equipped?
Apparently they remembered their hats but not their helmets or life jackets.
Golden retriever to the rescue
This fisherman's dog seemed concerned. Or not. Maybe it just wanted to join in the fun.

i love that stone stairway and the wall behind it. looks like a cool way to spend a beautiful day
Ah, that looks refreshing! Your photos tell a tale.
Mit ähnlichen Schläuchen war ich in der Kindheit auch unterwegs, hauptsächlich im Winter, als Ersatz für einen Schlitten...
Lieben Gruß

You have to admit it is a good hat! (It may not be of any use to protect his head, but it's still good!)

Looks like a wonderful way to spend a hot day!
The world is just one 'lazy river'.
We used to do that, too, and it was loads of fun. We brought along necessary equipment, such as liquid to imbibe!!
That looks like so much fun but I am not a good swimmer and I think this would make me a bit nervous, most definitely I would have a life-vest. Great photos!
After the Bala drownings in 2009, I cannot bear to watch people doing this kind of thing. Happy the tourists are headed back to the city.
We're visiting granddaughters today, after hubby finishes his Meals on Wheels deliveries. An hour drive to the city is well worth it!
Cheers from Cottage Country!
A fun way to spend a hot day! Nice shots!
The entire site is gorgeous. Love all the stone. And the river. And the old mill. And the dog. The people? Yeah, they're OK.
Don't see inner tubes much anymore. In fact, I haven't seen one in years. Do they still make 'em?
What a great way to spend a hot day. I've only river rafted once but it was a lot of fun. I would love to do it again.
What a gorgeous spot to go tubing! Though I agree, a lifejacket is de rigeur.
It looks like great fun! Our dogs would be in the water, too. They wouldn't want to be left out of the fun.
Looks like a great way to spend the afternoon.
tubing is fun. hope they used sunscreen!
This looks totally relaxing and I think the dog wants to leap in. Hopefully, the river isn’t deep should something unexpected happen. Such inner tubes don’t seem to have space for people in lifejackets.
The first thing I noticed was no life jackets.
The net is a nifty idea!
It does look like fun! Maybe we wrap ourselves up in protective gear too much these days!
Looks like lots of fun tubing on the river. Great shots and I love the dog wanting to join in on the fun.
This looks like something I could do. So much fun..
The limestone and the water are just gorgeous! I wouldn't have minded a little dip myself, especially if I get to play with a retriever, haha.
I had some wonderful floats down the Salt River in AZ when I was young(er)!
I would totally be up for some tubing - that looks fun!
Fun photo ~ what a lovely place to be on a hot day ~ stone stairs are awesome ~ Great photos ~ (A Creative Harbor)
thanks for coming by ~ love to have you ^_^
They look like they are having fun and keeping cool. Life jackets would be good ;-)
Terrific shots and it does look as though everyone is having a great day!! We've had a number drownings here in Washington this season as more and more people seem not to be using their life jackets! We've lost a number of people -- mostly young ones! Hope you have a lovely week!!
It's a difficult call - risk taking. All seems so calm and peaceful yet a father and his two sons lost their life this week in the Lake District. It seems they were enjoying a paddle in a canoe but didn't have the correct protection when it overturned. Tragic.
That looks fun, but it could be a little dangerous without a life jacket.
I'm with Al ... that looks so much fun ... I'd love to take a ride.
That looks like a great way to cool down on a hot day.
That looks like a lot of fun!
Fun shots and I love the golden retriever to the rescue.
Looks so pretty and leisurely, but I hear you on the life jackets - once again, I have heard about so many drownings this summer, it's just so tragic and nearly always avoidable.
oh what fun ! guess, that's the way life has to be. please have a good tuesday.

Looks like a great time.
What grand fun!
It looks like fun, but I think fun and safety are not mutually exclusive.
Looks like so much fun! The fishnet attached to the tube is a great way for one to remain dry while enjoying the water :D
oh wow, this looks like fun! we used to do this at the beach when we were kids. marvelous shots.
Looks like a great place for tubing, beautiful scenery, slow moving water and great pictures.
Looks like a great (and scenic) way to cool off!
What fun! Great way to chill! :)
How fun! It's like being in Great Wolf's Lodge. Fergus - another place that I like and miss.
Oh, this looks like such fun! Great pics.
What a fun, I love it!! :))))))))
Have a nice day and greetings,
Anna
I would like to speak with you regarding the old barns you have found. Can you please call me @ 705-789-4256. Thanks.
My, do these shots bring back memories of my younger days and my children growing up here on the Maury River. We all tubed on the weekends and now the grandchildren are doing it. Such a fun way to cool off during the hot summer months. Love all the shot.s genie
On a hot day I think I'd hsve been in the water too. Great photo essay again!
We have some good tubing rivers in the Pacific Northwest. They are also good for kayaking and canoeing. My husband just spend three days of the lower Fraser and had a blast. But the water is lower, so it is more docile this time of year. - Margy
I would have liked doing this when younger.
