Male northern cardinal on a rainy afternoon last week
A pair of cardinals has been visiting an apple tree near where we've hung a feeder filled with sunflower seeds. The male is there fairly often but the female is shy making it harder to capture her with my lens. I'll feel ecstatic when I photograph her!
A slightly different pose

Beautiful captures! I would love to see and photograph one.
He sure is a good looking fella. I would be so excited to be able to capture a picture of this bird.
That is so beautiful.
We have lots of cardinals in Connecticut. They are among my favorite northern birds. This guy looks well fed.
We don't have them here, unfortunately. Haven't seen one since my last visit to Kingston.
nicely done
Such a handsome wee guy; lets hope his mate plucks up her courage soon!
Beautiful! I've never seen a cardinal in the wild.
We have lots of cardinals in this area. If you were here you would have a variety a females to photograph. We frequently have more than 10 at our feeders at any given time. They love black sunflower seeds.
Fantastic capture.
I wonder, in case they would need to hide, what they would do with such colours... :)
God bless you!

Great photos....when the fall color leaves behind only browns and greys, the spot of red on a cardinal's back can make one smile!
Ah.... you know these birds just steal my heart! Great captures of such a handsome fella!
What a bright spot in the landscape.
