Hunter with duck decoys
Last week my husband and I were driving along the south side of Lake Ontario looking for migrating ducks when I happened to spot some swimming ducks, which turned out to be decoys. This hunter appeared with a few more of his decoys and...
Untangling his decoys
began tossing them one by one into the water.
Hunter and his fabric blind
I didn't stick around to see if he shot any real ducks. I'm squeamish so didn't want to know.

Glad to read that these are just decoys because they sure look real in the photo. I’m with you … too squeamish to stick around and rooting for the ducks!
Duck hunting seems like such a lot of work for what you get.
He looks determined. I prefer my duck already cooked "Peking Style" from the local Chinatown.
Darla
nice photos
thanks
Looks like a sight we would see around here...Nice captures!
I wonder why does he do that?? I don't want to know if it is what I really think :(
There are many weird people in world! He seems to be one of them, I'm sorry to say. Hope the real ducks stay away from him!!
You are brave haven shot these photos! :)
Interesting. What do they do with the ducks? I can't imagine they'd be good for eating.
The hunger almost looks like a decoy in the second photo. I'd rather look at ducks any day than eat them! Too fatty for me.
It doesn't look like much fun to me, and it is certainly unfair to the ducks who, even if they should be wise to the decoys, are not match for a shotgun.
Lets hope the ducks out-smarted him, which looks like a distinct possibility.
I do hope the ducks stayed far away from those decoys.
I didn't know it was legal to be shooting a gun along the shores of Lake Ontario. I hope the ducks out-smarted him!
I hope all his work was in vain!
Wonderful shots! HDR?
I know what you mean. We've begun feeding the deer again. The neighbour does, in order to suck them in and shoots them. sigh
Cheers from Cottage Country!
When a chicken cost four dollars at the store I wonder what this sick jerk off gunny is doing. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Very interesting photos and I hope the real ducks managed to stay away and stay safe.
I'm with Gary on this one!! Hope you have a wonderful holiday and a very Merry Christmas, EG!!
I would not be sticking around either, I love seeing the birds. Live and free!
Good grief, war paint.
Sorry, but I like to eat them as much as I like to watch them...
Awesome captures!
My dad was a duck hunter (deer too). He used to bring them home and my mom would cook them. I refused to eat them ( rebel teenager). I would eat chicken instead since I thought they weren't as cute as ducks.
This is a very interesting photo sequence. I enjoyed the pictures, but I wouldn't enjoy hunting.
I hope Daffy doesn't fly by.
I would rather not know.
Different strokes for different folks. Some hunt, some fish, some take photos.
Nice photos!
p.s. Some birders do the camo thing too.
Wish they make it illegal.
I thought the ducks were real at first. I would rather shoot the ducks with my camera.
I've never hunted or even held a gun, but when I was young I was taken duck hunting by a beau - I sat in a boat and watched. It was, I have to admit, something to see him shoot the birds, retrieve them and take them home to his mum for cleaning and cooking.
Great photos!
I am also glad to read that these are just decoys. Yes, they sure look real in the photo.
Whoa, he's gone all out there! Those decoys are actually quite beautiful, being so realistic.
Hunting is hard for me. I don't oppose it if the food is needed for nutrition, but I never wanted my boys killing for sport.
Thankfully, they never wanted to, but then, we're not from a gun culture...and I know that good people in hunting-oriented states feel otherwise.
=)
