Fencing on a Lake Ontario beach
Snow fences help control drifting snow. But so far there's no snow.
I'm beginning to wonder if we're going to have a white or brown Christmas.

Oh my, does this ever take me back! We used to have abundant snow fencing here but you never see it anymore.
Something we certainly don't see in my area! We had a heavy frost yesterday morning and my mother actually believed it was snow.
You probably won't have to worry about not having enough snow - at least before the winter's over.
I remember snow fences from my grandmother's farm in northern Minnesota. During the summer they'd roll them up and make a big pile out in front by the road. My cousin and I would sit down in between them and smoke cigarettes. We didn't think anyone could see us. Well, they couldn't but they could see the smoke rising above the pile of fences! :-)
I hate those orange mesh snow fences that are now starting to appear. Love the old wooden ones.
Interesting fencing. I especially like the falling down parts in your photo. The lines make for a great visual.

I learned something new today. Never even thought of snow on beaches.
we have fence like this here on our beaches, but it is to keep the sand from blowing away. i thought that is what these were. for some reason that first photo speaks to me. i can't decide why, but i do really really like it. there is so much to see, love the lamp post

We have some snow, but not enough to cover the grass yet. It will come, sigh...
I love the patterns of the first photo. Never thought the beaches would need that kind of protection!!
haven't seen snowfences since i left wisconsin. :)
LOve the fencing. Here we have it on beaches for sand. We''ll be lucky if we even have to wear a coat for Christmas.

We used to see lots of those around here. Not so much anymore. I hope you get some snow.

I love hitting the beach a few times in the winter to photograph. As for the white stuff... OK for holidays, then be gone with it!

Growing up in the US mountain west we had snow fences all over the place. I haven't ever seen one in Oklahoma. Probably because we don't need them.
This is our first winter being spent outside Toronto, so I am not expecting to see any snow!
Snow fences, eh? Maybe they are sand fences to keep the drifting sand away. They have these on the coast for sand purposes. MB
I don't know if that means you're lucky or not! We've been extremely dry, too, but we finally got a little bit of snow in the last five days. Not enough to pile up on our snow fences, though...
I used to see this fencing a lot when I lived in North Dakota.
There's no doubt that the snow will come - eventually. Until then, the snow fences look rather forlorn.
These are nicely composed scenes, EG. There are still eleven days before Christmas. My money is on a white Christmas up there.
