Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) carrying partially-eaten fish back to nest
It's not surprising that osprey are also called "fish hawks" as that is what they eat after diving into the water to catch their prey. Apparently they average at least one fish for every four dives.

Great pics, the second one is so clear you can count the feathers. You are talented with that camera.

I think Osprey are awesome birds.
Love your images. We have a nest in our harbor from which I can watch them all summer long up in Maine as they mate and raise their young.
My husband is a fishermen down here in Florida and he isn't very fond of these birds...they are always trying to capture his bait. LOL! I sit back and watch the whole scene and just laugh...beautiful detail in your image.

Handsome fellow!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Beautiful! Although shots such as these give me the quivers thinking of our chicken being grabbed by hawks. Beautiful nonetheless.
Breathtaking shots! Amazing to see. My husband says the fish in the first one is probably a sculpin.
COOL!!! You're making me jealous because it will be a while before I can do any serious bird watching, and this is such a good time of year to try!
Splendid shots!

Ospreys are great birds to watch as they dive into the water and come up with a fish in their beak.

Both of these photos are magnificent.
Beautiful images, EG. In Florida, I see raptors everywhere, but I can't tell one from another.
I'll bet some guys wish they could fish like this.
