Great blue heron on its way to get snacks for the kids
The heronry near where I live is busy, busy, BUSY! While the adults are rarely at home...
Heron Condos
the kids are still in their nests
Siblings waiting for Mom or Pop to return
These kids look patient now, but you'd be amazing to hear the squawking once a parent appears on the horizon!
Off again for some more treats!
I missed this heron landing to feed its young, but caught it taking off to find more grub.
I am joining Stewart M's Wild Bird Wednesday HERE

Judging from the number of young there is certainly no breeding problems in the heron nation.
Wow great pictures. I had no idea they lived in groups.
Lovely pics of the herons. You will have no dearth of models once the young crop grows up a bit.
A Heron Condo! Wowzer, look at 'em . . I wonder what the Heron in the first photo is thinking . . isn't it majestic???
Thank you.

It's like Grand Central Station up there! :)
Fish... again?
Busy place..bet the parents are tired!
Hey- did you change something? I had to click through some kind of feed thing to get to your blog this morning.
Oh, wow! What a fantastic series - esp. that first shot. I think your calling is bird photography. Seriously!
Someone told me that once, too. Well, that's not quite true. They said my photographs were for the birds!
Whoa! great captures! You take them so well.
That is a lot of herons!
Wow! These shots are really impressive. Love the heron condos. I wonder if they have to worry about having enough transit. ;)
These are awesome photo. We were out yesterday trying to find the heron next ... saw both herons but they were busy catching lunch in the river while we were there and didn't fly off in any direction. Hopefully next time we are there we'll spot the nest.
Such amazing shots and a new word (heronry) for me. It must be so much fun to watch the coming and going.
Darla
So many herons. You country will be filled with them.
Very cool shots! So many babies...so little time.
awesome shots! the babies just make me smile!
Such a graceful looking bird on the ground, it looks awkward in the air. Wonderful shots. I like the condo shot, so rare to see.
Excellent shots EG! Looks like those babies will soon be ready to leave the nests!
I think I must have had it real easy with only two mouths to feed :) No pressure here then! Seriously EG I think Lowell is right, you have such a talent for birding, but then again there's the macro shots... :)
Zowie---Great shots. If I were the parent I'd be kicking them out of the nest and saying 'get you own dang food'. LOL
How amazing to have a rookery so near. I'm with Lowell--Your bird photography is awesome. MB
I'm thinking that it must get very crowded up there once the parents are back. They are all so close together. Oh. And. I would not want to be a heron in a LOWER next. LOL
I loved seeing these! Wonderful shots. I can only imagine the squawking you hear there!
A great serie of photos, Perfect for WBW!
Fabulous shots!
Great shots!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
I just have to join in and agree with everyone above...great shots - all of them.
A great series - especially the in-flight photos.
Fantastic images, great captures!
a Marvelous set of photos. Thanks for sharing
Such a cool bird.
=)
Wow - super shots again! I had no idea that they nested in condos like that since they always seem to be such solitary birds!
Cool series on the Heron nest. You have some great flight shots!
those birds always seem to big for themselves and amaze me everytime they take off!
I would love to spend some time at a heron rookery. Your images are great.
I like the "condo" shot.
wow, what an amazing sight--I would love to see that in person.
I bet they make a heck of a racket, great shots!
Lovely photos! I love watching heronries!

WOW that flying heron is awesome! How close is this Herony to Toronto? I'm planning a visit and would LOVE to check it out. Thank you.
Beautiful shots!
What lovely shots of the heron in flight!
Oh wow, I've never seen heron condos before! Think of the views;-)
Wonderful captures! I can imagine the squawking. It gets noisy here, too, when the moms come up from pasture.
Hi Just discovered your blog on WBW and so glad I did because these photos of Heron and their may chicks are awesome. I was wondering when you said you missed one landing, have you ever considered taking video of the attics that goes on around the nest and also then we could hear the sound they make. Just a thought. any way I have joined your site and hope to see a lot more in the future. Margaret
Wow these are incredible images, love them all, great share~
I bet it is fun to watch them...you really got some great shots here.
