Wildflowers along a boardwalk in a swamp
Largest square: Wood nymph (Cercyonis pegala) on a blade of grass.
Moving clockwise: field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis); moth mullein (Verbascum blattaria), blue vervain (Verbena hastata), Marsh cinquefoil (Comarum palustra) and blue flag (Iris versicolour) still in bloom.

I spotted some butterflies on my hike along a canal earlier today. But would any of them stay still long enough to be photographed? No way!

Beautiful photos. The only one I knew was the blue flag which grows here although I may have seen a couple of the others and just know know what they are. Our world has so many beautiful things.

i saw one of these butterflies in our front yard yesterday, he was sitting in the yellow flowers, i went out with camera and chased him for a while but alas, no photo
