Butterfly on aster
Until the beginning of last week, out weather has been unseasonably warm. Still, I was quite surprised last Sunday to see butterflies on the north shore of Lake Ontario.
Monarch on clover
There were quite a few monarchs sipping nectar, possibly migrating southward.
I am linking to Madge's Weekly Top Shot.
FYI: The November 1 theme for City Daily Photo bloggers is "Heights."

Oh they better get out their winter coats burr:) Great shots. B
Beautiful shots of delicate yet strong little creatures. Love the Monarch migration cycle.
It's always so good to see a Monarch and then imagine it migrating all those thousands of miles.
Very pretty! So colorful. :)
Glad to hear there were a few monarchs.
I was surprised to see a few butterflies out in the field a couple of days ago..the mornings have been so chilly. I agree with Buttons- they better find a fur coat to wrap up in.
the first one is my fav today, i think that is called a leaf wing, and they are so pretty, we have a few here but i have never gotten a decent shot of one.
Last little bit of sweet nectar. Great shots!
That is quite amazing. I guess the warm weather gets their signals crossed! Love the monarch pic!
I can't believe you still have butterflies! I can't even remember the last time I saw one here. We sure didn't have many this year.
I wonder where do they go in the winter?
I haven't seen butterflies in a few weeks. There might still be some here, in Woodstock near London, but husband tells me we have had hard frost back home. I wonder if I brought a warm enough coat with me for the trip from the Greyhound home tomorrow...
lovely!
That monarch's lovely in particular.
I haven't seen any around here for three or four weeks...
You have make beautiful butterflies photos!
Greetings, RW & SK
Fabulous butterfly captures.
These are so pretty. I love the monarch on the clover. I hope it survives the trip as there are so few of them this year.
lovely photos! Unseasonably warm over here too but my last butterfly sighting was about a week ago
I hope they are far south by now! ;-)
Love, love, love your Monarch shot. Very nice!
Lovely winged ones. :)

Lovely pictures. No butterflies left over here and that is good because the flowers are all done as well.
Lovely butterflies!!!
Terrific butterfly shots!
I was out last weekend and saw a few sulphurs but it's down to freezing this week.
These are excellent! It's been warm here for weeks, but we had a bit of snow this morning.
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Wow! Stunning pictures!
Beautiful captures!
These are so beautiful.
Our butterflies are long gone now. :-(
These are beautiful captures. Hope they don't wait too long before they head south.
