I always think they look so un-contained...for lack of a better word. And totally, totally surprises me when they land in trees. Even if I saw it every day, I would still be spellbound as I watched them.
Stunning photos of the beautiful bird! :) and your theme sounds fine, coming in for a landing, as it's a long time since I've visited you (and all the other bloggers), so "here I come - landing on my two feet!" ;D
What a great series. The wingspan of these birds is huge...send what you've got left of them down this way for the winter, OK. Any obnoxious humans you can keep up there. :))
I love watching these guys! They are so beautiful in flight and on the ground. It's the transition period between the two that makes look a bit ungainly. Great photos!
East Gwillimbury is a rural town less than an hour north of Toronto, Canada's largest city.
My family calls me CameraGirl because I take my camera with me wherever I go.

Great image series you show. Thanks for the comment on my blog :) Hanne Bente
Fabulous pictures of the GBH. I love the toes in the first photo. He must be really concentrating on making a good landing.
Well caught.
so cute! love these birds!
I love the positions of the wings in the second and third shot. Really great shots.
Wonderful captures!
Beautiful series of the heron landing.
Gorgeous shots!
What a beautiful set of photos. It's incredible how graceful and elegant these creatures are (even if this one did look a little clumsy).
Wonderful series!!! I love the way you can get close enough to capture moments like this!!!

Fantastic shots.
Never seen a shot of a frontal landing of a blue heron, great wingspan. Lovely series of shots!
Wow, these are fantastic. I thought the first one was a sculpture at first.
One of my favorite birds to watch. You got some awesome action shots.
Fantastic shots! I love the landing gear down and those wings after the landing.
Magnificent GBH shots! I'd be quite pleased if I ever took shots like this:) How marvelous to see that wingspan up close!
While all of these photos are wonderful, I really like your first one. It's a great capture.
You captured their grace perfectly!
Those herons are the coolest birds!

Amazing shots!
It must be the long legs that keep it from looking graceful.
