Burlington Canal Lighthouse
Built in 1858 of dolomite limestone, this lighthouse was no longer needed by the 1930s due to radar and better lighting on the nearby pier. The lighthouse - in use for more than a century - was decommissioned in 1968, making it vacant for a little more than half a century.
V is for VACANT.
Collapsing barn
It's pretty obvious why this old barn is now vacant.
Nest made in the hollow of an upright log
The breeding season is now over here and there are many avian vacancies.

The barn appears to be doing a curtsy at the end of it's act.
I think the nest is in better shape than the barn!!

I'd guess there will be more vacancies in your area soon as a whole bunch of folks are heading to Florida. In fact, I think many of them are already here! Yikes!
Love that lighthouse.
Excellent photos to go with the letter "V".
I can think of all kinds of cool new uses for an old abandoned lighthouse.
Oh the poor barn! I agree with Lowell above...I can think of uses for that lighthouse!
well the barn is past it's best!! However I too could think of a couple of neat uses for the light house. Great shots.
Love the lighthouse EG , can't believe someone hasn't bought and renovated it in all that time!
Although all your pictures are neat, especially love that nest picture!
Sweet little nest.
Interesting vacant spaces. I agree with others, something should be done with the lighthouse.

Great photos for the letter V! I love the lighthouse. I am another one that could find a way to use the lighthouse. This is the 4th lighthouse I've seen posted today and they are one of my favorite things.

Lighthouse on I like. It is an interesting building. Yours.
I love the lighthouse photo. It's sad that so many of these are now decommissioned and falling into ruin. The bird nest on the tree is an interesting find. Great choices for 'v'.

That nest is well disguised! Beautiful fall images.
Gosh, that barn is a sad one.
Loving the avian vacancies, and that romantic old lighthouse!
What a condition of the barn, it will make a good plot for a story.:)
The nest was hard to spot initially. Great pics.
Great shots!!! Each seems to tell such a sweet story with a bit of a sad ending. Thanks for sharing.

All of these photos are fabulous! I'm especially drawn to the lighthouse. Thanks for sharing a little bit about each of these sites.
Awesome shots and quite various too!
Lovely old barn fading back to nature. I always try to imagine the story an old building would tell.
The lighthouse and the barn are great photos, but I like the nest the best!!!
