White-throated Sparrow (Zonotrichia albicollis)
White-throated Sparrows are forest sparrows with a lovely song that seems to sound like Oh-sweet-Canada. How appropriate since during spring, summer and fall, they breed across Canada. During winter, though, they do fly south to eastern and southern North America.
As you can see in the photo, they like to feed on the ground, scratching for yummies. But they can also be seen in low shrubs, particularly in spring when they find new buds tasty.
Eating at a feeder
Keep seed in your bird feeder and they'll eat there too.

What a pretty little thing!!
Yes, an attractive little bird that is so common and so adaptable. Love the yellow spot on its head.

I love their yellow eyebrows! Such a bright yellow...looks like a spot of mustard almost.
he is a beauty, maybe he will stop by our house this winter
I really like that top shot! and I had never noticed the yellow on them before, so observant I am ;)
What a cute little guy! Nice shots.
Great shots EG. One of my favourite sparrows, I just had a couple in the yard the other day, on their way south by now.
You have captured this little guy so well. from a distance you might miss those bright colors. We see them here as they pass through on their way south.
cute as the dickens!
This is a fine-looking sparrow. I wonder if they get to Florida? The only sparrows I've seen are the brown/grey nondescript ones.
I like their song too and now I will always think of Canada when I hear them.
HI EG What a wonderful head pattern on this lovely little bird. Great shots.
I love to hear them! They are such sweet birds.
What a pretty bird. I don't think we have them out this way. At least that's what the book says. I love the white throat patch. MB
Wonderful photos. I really like their yellow stripe. I've seen them only a scant few times here in La.
You always make great pictures of birds! How cute!

Wonderful picture, such rich colours.
It is a cute little bird. I am always impressed at how many birds you can identify.
I think some of those sweet little birds come to my feeder in the winter! But I never knew they were singing a song about the country I was born in!
Great photos of a very pretty little bird.
Pretty with that one bright spot of yellow!

Looking forward to seeing them here soon.

It's neat to see one close up and realize how much color they really have.

Every time I see an image of this species it reminds me of how lucky you are in your part of the world for Sparrow, Buntings and Warblers.... I must visit
What a lovely little bird!
Great photo!
I have seen this sparrow here on occassion. I am assuming they are just passing through because they seem to be here one day and gone the next. They are very colorful as sparrows go so they are easy to spot when they are around. Very nice pictures EGCG ...
