Sun dogs look like fragments of rainbows, don't they? Both are created by light traveling through water or ice acting like prisms: rainbows when light passes through water droplets, sun dogs when light strikes ice crystals.

2. For those of us who live in the Northern Hemisphere, daylight hours are getting noticeably longer. Today, Toronto has 10 hours and 6 minutes. Whoo hoo! The darkest 1/4 of the year ( November 5 to February 5) is now behind us.
3. Last weekend, I bought some annual flower seeds. It's too early to plant them yet, but I like looking at the packages.
4. Most of the time I don't like to shop, but take me to a camera or art supply store and I feel like I'm in a magical mansion with secret doors yet to be opened. So much to discover, to investigate, to play with, to imagine!
5. I read in my local paper that there's a home in my region that has sold for $40 million. I cannot help wondering if I had $40 million dollars if I would spend it on a home when a $35 million-dollar home should do me me just fine. ;)

40 million is defintiely alot, but will tell you, I have been watching Downton Abbey on TV and there is an advertisement with an amazing black car... a Ralph Lauren Ad.... I LOVE THE CAR, and when I looked up the ad, I see that it is a BUSCATI, and last sold for 40 million dollars. A CAR!!!!, so think it would be better to spend on a house. Lovely Sun Dogs

I saw a sundog on Saturday but it didn't snow until yesterday. A 40million dollar house? Wow. What I could do with that amount of money. Actually I wouldn't know what to do with it! Crazy isn't it? It sure is nice to have the longer daylight hours.
Don't think I've ever seen a sun dog. Yes, take the lesser cost have and spend that other 5 mil. in the camera and art stores.

Neither a house nor a car is worth 40 million! Human beings are sometimes pretty crazy. Love your sun dogs. .. which I think are worth more that anything humans can create.
Love the sun dog images! I don't think I've ever seen anything like this! I think I'd keep my home and spend that 40 million elsewhere...camera store, hobby store, and such!
Amazing sight, as for the house... if I had 40m to spend, I think 1m tops would go on a house and the rest elsewhere!

I don't think that I've ever seen a sun dog.
I can't imagine spending $40 million on a home. I can't even imageine spending $1 million on a place. Here in Tulsa at least. I understand other places it is very easy to spend a million bucks on a modest looking home.
the 40 million dollar home has short circuited my brain on commenting...LOL on your keeping 5 million. that might pay the first year light bill.

a photographer told me how she gets her creative and different shots. she said she looks at it and what anyone would see, then tries to see it different.

I don't like shopping, but do like staples/ office supply, and oh, how I love a quilt shop. Or flea market/antique type place.
With all the cold weather we have had this winter,the sun dogs have been exceptionally bright.
YAY! for longer days. We have 9 1/2 hours of sunlight now. We have a mt to the east and the sun comes over later than just south of us.
I bought a seed packet the other day too. Lovely to look at.
Sundogs are fun to spot.

I love spotting sun dogs, they remind me of my Granny. She used to say that if they were on the right you would find money and if they were on the left you'd "be working hard, honey".

Magnificent shots of the sun dogs. You cracked me up about the home. I guess it's location, location, location but so many extremely expensive houses in the U.S. went down in value with the economy. I don't know if Canada has had the same issues. Then again a 40 million dollar home might have been work 60 million a decade ago so maybe it's a bargain, ha.

Lovely photo of your sun dogs! I'm also excited for each day growing more day light. To hurry things along, I'm thinking of making a garden journal this year, which will include my new seed packets and photos and anything that sparks up a person's mood!

what does 40 million dollars look like? that would be my 1st question. my on going joke with my family is ... when they ask me what i want for Christmas? i say a "million dollars" ... i really have every thing i want. i just want to be healthy, happy, a good marriage, a good family life, to travel, & no gift would really change that. now i am not saying that i don't appreciate gifts but life is more than gifts. it is spending time together & just enjoying life to it's fullest. happy weekend!! enjoy your garden shopping. Love the sun dogs. Here's to more daylight -- I don't like driving when it's dark. I've been looking at seed catalogs -- decisions. My granny said to never plant seeds before Good Friday and Easter is late this year. What a fairy tale -- $40 million home! Happy Friday!

I love seeing Sun Dogs! Your photos turn out much better than ours. We have seen a lot of them in the last 2 years, despite a drought.
Had to smile at #5. I'm pretty sure I could get by with a 30 milion dollar home even. Love the sundog photos. We've had a lot of them this winter with our cold.
bookstores are my weakness, as are antique/second hand stores.
