The red wings are back and ravaging my bird feeders. I wish they knew better how to share with other birds! The announce they are coming in to the feeders from far away, scaring everyone else away.
They are very striking, aren't they?!!! I used to see them all the time when I lived on Galveston Island. Living in central Houston, I don't see them at all. I miss them! Happy Critter Day!
We have tons of them here too. They seem to share quite well with the other birds though. That's a terrific shot of the female, I'm not seeing too many of them.
Wonderful shots of these beautiful birds! I have some living down by the pond, but I can't seem to get close enough for a really good shot like yours. Maybe some day!
It is a shame they are so loud! I do think they are pretty birds, love the colors on their wings.. Great shots. Thank you for sharing your post with my critter party.. Have a happy day.
I like these birds, but they never like me. I run into them all the time by our garden, which is next to Bro O's pond. They scold me when I get too close.
East Gwillimbury is a rural town less than an hour north of Toronto, Canada's largest city.
My family calls me CameraGirl because I take my camera with me wherever I go.

Ka-ree! After the Canada Geese they are are most common summer bird in my neighbourhood.
What original birds. This colorful patch on the wings is adorable.
Greetings :)
Oh the male is absolutely beautiful, and so are your photos! But bad they scare all the others away! :/
:)
unfortunately a not so good side to some of the birds who frequent our gardens ... very photogenic none the less
I rarely see them around home. They are abundant at nearby lakes though, and I love to spot the flash of red in the reeds. Great shots!
Lovely.
I think the hummingbird also does the same thing. They don't allow other birds near the bird feeder.
Beautiful markings on that male bird!
They are ferocious when it comes to defending their nest. Good shots!

The female certainly looks different from the male. Her markings are pretty.
so pretty sitting on the post... our blackbirds are extremely loud..
How beautiful!
we still have quite a few hanging here! wish they'd move north to your feeders! :)

We don't have red winged black birds here in the city, but just saw one - only one - on a country drive. We used to see them by the thousands.
Nice images.
Hi EG That blackbird shot on that pole is really lovely. If you didn't put food out for them you would probably not get these great shots!
I see them along the railway tracks near us but hear them from far away!

I just posted a wee vid of red-wings!
(ツ) from Cottage Country Ontario , ON, Canada!
We are having the same problem the cowbirds, another member of the blackbird family. Pesky critters! Stealing food from our cardinals!
That first shot is awesome.
Dearest
Oh, your picture of Red Wings is wonderful; the contrast of male and female is great♡♡♡
So sorry for my belated comment, wishing you are having wonderful weekend.
Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
And yet they look so innocent. They should learn to share.
Nice looking birds.
They are beautiful.I don't see them at the feeder, but I guess that's a good thing.
They look beautiful, though naughty.

A gorgeous bird.
Great shots of the birds.
But who could turn these beautiful guys (and gals) away !?
I've always loved these birds...never realized what interesting patterns the female has in their feathers! Nice shots!
he's a handsome fellow
Too bad such beautiful birds are such rascals!
=)
Great captures. They were always my favorites when I was young.
