McKenzie Marsh closeup
Saturday morning my husband drove to Mckenzie Marsh (Aurora) to look for birds. Well, most of the birds were in hiding but the end-of-June wildflowers were lovely and certainly worth photographing.
Largest square: red-winged blackbird. Moving clockwise: hawkweed (Hieracium caespitosum), oxeye daisies (Leucanthemum vilgare), bittersweet nightshade (Solanum dulcamara), purple vetch (Vicia americana), and bird'sfoot trefoil (Lotus corniculatus).
Please note: I have included the botanical names because the common names vary from place to place but the botanical names stay the same.

So pretty! Is that an American blackbird?
Great bird and flower photos. Always liked the red wing black birds. We also have yellow headed black birds in our wetlands.

What a pretty and happy looking mosaic. End of June--oh no!
I am glad you put the Botanical names. I works in a Nursery and was a buyer and one has yo know the Latin names. I have heard many strange common names. MB
You know, it just occurred to me that you two have a wonderful partnership :) Isn't that a wonderful blessing :)
The bird's foot trefoil is gorgeous. Nice collage!
Hearing that your husband drive is a positive development for his continued recovery. Who cares if the birds weren't there when you have good news?
