Semipalmated Plover

Semipalmated Plover (Charadrius semipalmatus)

This plover was on its way north to its tundra breeding grounds. A little over a week ago, it and a couple of others had made a short stopover at a small pond where my husband and I look for shore birds this time of year.

OOPS! I think it spotted me!

I'm sure it was mumbling about cheeky photographers as it huffed away.

Thank you for your kindness.

Great bird shots. So if this is a "semi" palmated is there a totally palmated? Do you sense my lack of bird knowledge?

I think you have a way with birds! Such fine photos! At first I thought you were writing about a sublimated plover and I was really anxious to find out what that was. Now, I've got to find out what the heck "semipalmated" means. I wonder if has anything to do with cheating at cards?

Another lovely bird portrait. Do you have a lot of bird books so that you and identify the birds you see?
