With a shortage of affordable housing one wonders why do we allow buildings to deteriorate like this.
They do make for good photograph though.
What a shame EG, to think it was a thriving farmhouse in times gone by.
It does not take long before places go like that if abandoned

this is what would happen to an abandoned home here, the vines and weeds would cover it in not time... in the 25 years in our home, our city has changed drastically, there is hardly any dirt left

Nature doesn't take long to reclaim it's territory. Kind of a reminder of how insignificant we humans are sometimes.

It's hard to see this kind of change - urban sprawl means less green space. Enjoy it while you can!

It is crumbling down.. Poor thing! I do hate to see the big farms disappearing and becoming housing developments..
Even though the building is tumbling down and in terrible decay it makes a nice shot. It's too bad the city is encroaching on the country in your area. I think it happened here long ago. I'm always surprised when I see pockets of farm land.

Same thing happening here in Eastern Ontario. Our population is shrinking while our farms are expanding. So many houses on the market and not many selling.
Pretty sad. Looks like it once was a fairly nice home.

It is too bad that it is falling apart, looks like a nice house with the lovely brickwork.
It is the same story here in Bangalore. Old mansions are being brought down and huge concrete tall structures come up in their place. :(
Very sad.. it's a brick home! Just on the stretch of old highway that takes us into the kinda big city I bet there are at least 20 abandoned homes and farms and that is just the ones we can see. Not the ones down the dirt roads. The falling in roof is the last straw I guess!
I hate it when old places are just left to decay. I also don't like the disappearance of the small family farms. Whenever I see places like this, I always wonder who lived there and what the history of the place is. Nice photo!
