White-faced Meadowhawk
This time of year when traveling through fields or woods, I'm almost certain to see dragonflies and damselflies challenging me to take their photos. And if they rest on a leaf or stem at least I have a fighting chance to get a decent photo. I think these guys and gal wanted their portraits posted on my blog because they stayed put for more than a few seconds.

Such awesome shots! They are so crisp and colorful.
They are beautiful.
They are beautiful.
Beautiful.
Lucky you. They don't stay still for very.
Cute photos of dragonflies, and same time by means red. I greet you.
I've never seen the meadowhawk.
Their gossamer wings always fascinate me.
EG, gorgeous captures. I love the color of the damsels.. Thank you for linking up your post to my critter party.. Have a happy weekend!
I love seeing dragonflies around the yard. Great captures I'm glad they posed for you.
Beautiful takes on both. Dragonflies are fun to watch in flight.
I've not been very successful at photographing these creatures. They always land on something ugly, like a patch of dirt and or an old paint splashed ladder or some other tool of unknown vintage. Maybe that's why I admire yours so much.
It IS dragonfly time here too.
such beauties. :)
I have trouble getting them to stop long enough for pics, but I'm thrilled when I get a good one. These are gorgeous!
Excellent shots. Not an easy thing to shot but you did it. They usually zip around too fast for me. MB
Top shot.. color contrasts awesome and pop out beautiful!
Lovely macros!
we don't have the brilliant colors on ours here like yours do. they are neon blue and red. so beautiful.
Great finds, and photos of both these gorgeous dragonflies.I have never been able to catch them in the act as yet, so well done.
Have a good weekend.
Super captures. It's a great time of year to watch Dragons and Damsels.
Wow EG, these are fantastic!
First of all: i am the one who can say that I want to "have a fighting chance to get a decent photo" with any kind of birds or butterflies or... I'm still learning.. LOL ;)
Your pictures are amazing and the infos are so good, because I did not know the names of species... except the one of dragonflies...as a generic one!!
Thanks for sharing with us! And have a sunny summer weekend!
i am glad they posed! :)
Beautiful picture !!
Wow - they always seem to be on the move when I see them!
That first shot is AMAZING! And I love the "blue arches."
Beautiful macro photos and dragonflies.
Great pictures ! those dragonflies are so frail , and gracious !
Gorgeous shots! Most of the time they're too fast for me. :)
the blue dragonflies as my favorite - but your first capture is stunning!
You've captured some really wonderful detail in these.
Wonderful photographs!
It does seem to be a good year for dragonflies. They are so vibrant and shiny, and so fun to watch as they zip around. Great photos!
Fabulous shots. The Red and the Blue color really stands out.
Amazing shots. Getting these guys to sit long enough to get a picture is the trick.
Just awesome!!! I don't see any around here ever!! And If I did, I would never be able to get my camera and shoot fast enough!! It looks like they are posing for you.
Oh, we have limited kinds of them here and always hard to catch them in the act(^^;)
Great photographs and my dragonfly lover husband saw your pictures with keen eyes p;)
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs to my dear Japanese friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
You are very patient and steady with the camera capturing these critters. Beautifully captured.
Your knowledge of the natural world continues to amaze me, EG.
Lovely captures. I like the colors!
Great close ups.
Great shots, so well done! You're helping me learn about these little critters.
Looooove your title EG :) brilliant macros as always.
Amazing photos!
The red dragonfly, what a charming name, White-faced Meadowhawk, is such a colorful fellow, I just love to see them on patrol clearing away the mosquitoes! The blue damselflies are a continuation of the heart photo you posted before, so cute! I used to see the blue ones around water as a child, now I rarely see them but did get blurry photos of a greenish one lately.
Amazing photos :)
I love the blue damsels.
I love the blue damsels.
Marvelous close-ups!
Loving these vivid colors, although I'd probably be creeped out if one landed on me!
=)
